Mountfield, East Sussex
Mountfield is a village and civil parish in the Rother district of East Sussex, England, and three miles (5 km) north-west of Battle. It is mentioned in the ''Domesday Book''. The parish church is dedicated to All Saints; Mountfield and Whatlington Church of England Primary School is at the road junction in the nearby hamlet of Johns Cross by the A21 and the A2100 roads further north. Governance The lowest level of government is the Mountfield parish council. The parish council is responsible for local amenities including two playing fields and a children's play area. Elections are held every four years. The May 2011 election was uncontested. Rother District council provides the next level of government with services such as refuse collection, planning consent, leisure amenities and council tax collection. Derek Mountfield
Derek Mountfield (born 2 November 1962) is an English former footballer who played as a centre-back. His time at top-flight clubs Everton and subsequently Aston Villa were where he gained most fame, as Everton enjoyed successful periods at this time. Aston Villa pushed for honours during the early 1990s. Playing career Club After turning professional, Liverpool-born Mountfield spent a season-and-a-half at local club Tranmere Rovers before moving across the River Mersey to play for Everton. He signed for £30,000 prior to the 1982–83 season. He formed a defensive partnership with Kevin Ratcliffe and helped the club to victory in the 1984 FA Cup Final against Watford and to the Football League title the following season. Helen Mountfield, (born 14 March 1967) is a British barrister practising in administrative, human rights, and equality law. She has been Principal of Mansfield College, Oxford since 2018. Early life and education Mountfield was born on 14 March 1967 in London, England to Sir Robin Mountfield and Anne Mountfield. She was educated at Crown Woods School, a comprehensive school in London. She studied modern history at Magdalen College, Oxford, graduating with a first class Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. She then moved into law, and studied for a diploma in law (DipLaw) and the Common Professional Examination at City University. She later studied for a diploma in European Union Law (Dip Eur. Sir Robin Mountfield, KCB (16 October 1939 – 9 November 2011) was a British civil servant, who retired in 1999 from his most senior post as Permanent Secretary at the Cabinet Office. Early life and education Mountfield was born on 16 October 1939. He attended Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby and then Magdalen College, Oxford. Career He joined the Ministry of Power in 1961. He rose to the rank of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Trade and Industry in 1984, where he served until 1992 when he transferred to HM Treasury. In 1995 he moved to the Cabinet Office as Permanent Secretary responsible for the Office of Public Service there (the remainder of the Office of Public Service and Science after the Office of Science and Technology transferred to DTI). The club was formed after the original HC Mountfield was unable to resolve a sponsorship dispute. History Mountfield HK aligns itself with the history of Královští Lvi, a club formed in Hradec Králové in 1926 that operated a men's team until 2013. In the meantime, Mountfield a.s., a Czech-based home and garden retailer, owned and operated a hockey club in České Budějovice from 2006 to 2013.
