The geography of Galicia (Spain) is characterized by the contrast between the low altitude coastal relief and, further inland, by the higher altitude of the Galician Massif which itself offers contrasts between the morphology of the high northern plains and the southern mountains and valleys. Limits The territory of Galicia is between 43°47′ N ( Estaca de Bares) and 41°49′ N ( Portela do Home, border with Portugal) in latitude. In longitude, the territory lies between 6º42′ W and 9º18′ W. Ons Island
The Ons Island ( gl, Illa de Ons; es, Isla de Ons) is the main island of a small archipelago in the Ria de Pontevedra in Galicia, Spain. Ons belongs administratively to the municipality of Bueu, which has a regular ferry boat connection to the island, as have the mainland towns of Portonovo, Sanxenxo, Marín and Aldán. In 2020, lightning due to Subtropical Storm Alpha started a forest fire. Description Its beaches are crystal clear and there are several routes that lead to the lighthouse, or to the ''Buraco do Inferno''. The island has the only sustainable campsite in Galicia, with camping, cabin rental and glamping services. Melide beach is located in the north of the island. It was one of the first nudist beaches in Galicia and can be reached by a two-kilometre path from the island's town centre. San Martiño
San Martiño (''Saint Martin'') is a small island off the north coast of Galician, Spain, at the mouth of the Sor river and the beginning of ''Ría'' (estuary) of O Barqueiro. It is formed from a meander of the Sor river. The island belongs to the parish of As Negradas, municipality of O Vicedo. History The island had a Celtic settlement (Castro Castro is a Romance language word that originally derived from Latin ''castrum'', a pre-Roman military camp or fortification (cf: Greek: ''kastron''; Proto-Celtic:''*Kassrik;'' br, kaer, *kastro).
