Mount Stirling
Mount Stirling is a mountain in the Victorian Alps of the Great Dividing Range, located in the Hume region of Victoria, Australia. The mountain has an elevation of above sea level. Mount Stirling is also an abbreviation of the Mount Stirling Alpine Resort, a cross-country and backcountry ski resort located on the slopes of the mountain and situated approximately from Melbourne. The Mount Stirling ski resort is a popular location for beginner backcountry skiers and snowboarders due to its distance from Melbourne and proximity to the Mount Buller Alpine Resort. As at the 2011 census, the area had a population of 36. The Mount Stirling Alpine Resort is contained within an unincorporated area under the direct administration of the government of Victoria, and is surrounded by the Shire of Mansfield. Alpine National Park
The Alpine National Park is a national park located in the Central Highlands and Alpine regions of Victoria, Australia. The national park is located northeast of Melbourne. It is the largest National Park in Victoria, and covers much of the higher areas of the Great Dividing Range in Victoria, including Victoria's highest point, Mount Bogong at and the associated subalpine woodland and grassland of the Bogong High Plains. The park's north-eastern boundary is along the border with New South Wales, where it abuts the Kosciuszko National Park. Mount Howitt
Mount Howitt, also known as ''Toot-buck-nulluck'' in the Gunai language, is a mountain in Victoria, Australia, named for Alfred William Howitt. Located in the Wonangatta Moroka Unit of the Alpine National Park approximately 170 km north-east of Melbourne. The mountain is a popular bushwalking destination due to its views and relatively easy access in summer via several trails, including the Australian Alps Walking Track. The closest point to a road is via MacAlister Springs and the Howitt Plains, a distance of about seven kilometres. There is also a longer and more difficult hike up the West Spur. Mount Cobbler
Mount Cobbler is a mountain located in the Alpine National Park to the east of Mansfield in north-eastern Victoria, Australia. Its summit rises to above sea level. The peak and surrounding Cobbler land system are composed of sedimentary rocks ( conglomerate, red sandstone, siltstone and shale), dating to the Lower Carboniferous period, some 359 to 318 million years ago. Nearby Lake Cobbler, which has a camping area, is accessible by a four-wheel drive track. From there is a walking track to the summit, and another to Dandongadale Falls, which drops from the plateau and is the highest waterfall in Victoria. The walk to the summit is moderate to steep. Mount Buller is a mountain in the Victorian Alps of the Great Dividing Range, located in the Australian state of Victoria. It has an elevation of , Toponym The British explorer and surveyor Major Sir Thomas Livingstone Mitchell named the mountain after an acquaintance in the Colonial Office, Charles Buller. The Aboriginal name for the mountain is ''Bulla Bulla'' meaning "good". Geography The summit of Buller can be approached by vehicle via the village coupled with a short 500 metre (1600 foot) walk. It is also possible to climb the peak from Delatite River level along the Klingsporn walking track.
