__NOTOC__ Anmatjere is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south of the territory capital of Darwin. History The locality was named after the former Anmatjere Community Government Council, whose seat was located in the town of Ti-Tree. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. Governance and demographics Anmatjere is located within the federal division of Lingiari, the territory electoral division of Stuart and the local government areas of the Barkly Shire and the Central Desert Region. The 2016 Australian census reports that Anmatjere had 477 people living within its boundaries, of whom 47.3% were male, 52.7% were female and 87.9% identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Lake Mackay, Northern Territory
__NOTOC__ Lake Mackay is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located on the territory’s south-west adjoining the border with the state of Western Australia about south of the territory capital of Darwin and about west of the municipal seat in Alice Springs. The locality consists of the following land (from north to south): the Lake Mackay Aboriginal Land Trust, the Mount Doreen Station pastoral property, the former Newhaven Station pastoral property and the western part of the Haasts Bluff Aboriginal Land Trust. It fully surrounds the localities of Kintore and Nyirripi. The Tanami Road passes through the locality from Yuendumu in the south to the north-west via Mount Dooreen Station on its way to Halls Creek. Anna's Reservoir Conservation Reserve
Anna's Reservoir Conservation Reserve is a protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is located approximately north of Alice Springs and is within the boundaries of Aileron Station. The traditional owners of the area are the Anmatyerre peoples. The first European to visit the area was John McDouall Stuart in April 1860 while on expedition through the area. Stuart named the rock-hole after the youngest daughter of James Chambers, who had sponsored the expedition. Stuart visited the rock-hole on his next three attempts to reach the north coast of Australia. Other travellers and the builders of the Overland Telegraph Line all used the reservoir for water. Alfred Giles made use of the reservoir when overlanding 4,000 cattle and 8,000 sheep to establish Springvale Station near Katherine in 1879. __NOTOC__ The Alcoota Fossil Beds are an important paleontological Lagerstätte in the Northern Territory of Australia located on Alcoota Station in the locality of Anmatjere about north-east of Alice Springs in the Central Australia region. It is notable for the occurrence of well-preserved, rare, Miocene vertebrate fossils, which provide evidence of the evolution of the Northern Territory’s fauna and climate. The Alcoota Fossil Beds are also significant as a research and teaching site for palaeontology students. The Alcoota deposit is a series of intermittently interconnected lakes within a large basin. Aileron Homestead No
An aileron (French for "little wing" or "fin") is a hinged flight control surface usually forming part of the trailing edge of each wing of a fixed-wing aircraft. Ailerons are used in pairs to control the aircraft in roll (or movement around the aircraft's longitudinal axis), which normally results in a change in flight path due to the tilting of the lift vector. Movement around this axis is called 'rolling' or 'banking'. Considerable controversy exists over credit for the invention of the aileron. The Wright brothers and Glenn Curtiss fought a years-long legal battle over the Wright patent of 1906, which described a method of wing-warping to achieve lateral control. The brothers prevailed in several court decisions which found that Curtiss's use of ailerons violated the Wright patent. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Norfolk Island joined the census for the first time in 2016, adding 1,748 to the population. The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website. Barkly Shire
The Barkly Region, formerly Barkly Shire, is a local government area of the Northern Territory of Australia, administered by the Barkly Regional Council. The region's main town is Tennant Creek. The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Lingiari includes all of the Northern Territory's remote Indigenous communities, most of whom vote when visited by mobile polling teams during the election campaign. The Anmatjere Community, or Anmatyere Council, was a former local government area in the Northern Territory of Australia whose seat was located in the town of Ti-Tree, Northern Territory, located approximately north of Alice Springs.
