Saint Gorgonius of Nicomedia ( el, Ἅγιος Γοργόνιος Νικομηδείας) was a Christian martyr, part of the group Gorgonius, Peter Cubicularius and Dorotheus, who died in 304 AD at Nicomedia during the Diocletianic Persecution. San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farm
The San Gorgonio Pass wind farm is a wind farm that stretches from the eastern slope of the San Gorgonio Pass, near Cabazon, to North Palm Springs, on the western end of the Coachella Valley, in Riverside County, California. Flanked by Mount San Gorgonio and the Transverse Ranges to the North, and Mount San Jacinto and the Peninsular Ranges to the South, the San Gorgonio Pass is a transitional zone from a Mediterranean climate west of the pass, to a Desert climate east of the pass. This makes the pass area one of the most consistently windy places in the United States. Development of the wind farm began in the 1980s. It is one of three major wind farms in California, along with those at Altamont and the Tehachapi passes. San Gorgonio Inn
The San Gorgonio Inn was Banning, California's first hotel and was built by George W. Bryant and C. W. Filkins. Originally called the Bryant House, it was built in the Winter of 1884–85. In 1889, the hotel ownership passed to Captain and Mrs. Thomas E. Fraser, and was renamed “The Banning.” The Inn originally served the Railroad trade but as time progressed the focus was on the tourist trade brought by the new Hwy 99. The Original entrance faced south towards the Train Station but was later located on the north side facing the highway. A new owner, John Livacich, bought “The Banning” and named it the “San Gorgonio Inn” in 1923. Livacich added bungalows, used as lodging for tourists. Located at 150 East Ramsey Street, the inn flourished with the construction of U.S. Route 99 (now known as Ramsey Street) and Interstate 10. San Gorgonio Mountain, also known locally as Mount San Gorgonio, or Old Greyback, is the highest peak in Southern California and the Transverse Ranges at . It is in the San Bernardino Mountains, east of the city of San Bernardino and north-northeast of San Gorgonio Pass. It lies within the San Gorgonio Wilderness, part of the Sand to Snow National Monument managed by the San Bernardino National Forest.
