Mount Oizuru
is located on the borders of Gifu Prefecture, Gifu, Ishikawa Prefecture, Ishikawa and Toyama Prefecture, Toyama prefectures in Japan. It is in the northern area of Hakusan National Park and is part of the Ryōhaku Mountains. Geography Mount Oizuru, at , is the tallest mountain in the northern part of the Ryōhaku Mountains. Just north of the mountain is Mount Ōgasa (大笠山 ''Ōgasa-yama''), which is slightly shorter at . There are three triangulation stations on the mountain's thin peak. History Taichō is said to have first scaled the mountain in the early eighth century. Ryōhaku Mountains
The are a mountain range spanning Gifu, Toyama, Ishikawa, Fukui and Shiga prefectures in Japan. It is divided into the Kaetsu Mountains (加越山地 ''Kaetsu Sanchi''), whose major peak is Mount Haku, and the Etsumi Mountains (越美山地 ''Etsumi Sanchi''), whose major peak is Mount Nōgōhaku. Hakusan National Park
is a national park in the Chūbu region of Honshū, Japan. Established in 1962, it spans the borders of Fukui, Gifu, Ishikawa, and Toyama prefectures. Its main geographical feature is Mount Haku. In 1980 an area of 480 km² corresponding to the national park was designated a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve. History The park was originally designated , in 1955. It received full national park status in 1962. Flora and fauna The vegetation of the park ranges from warm temperate to alpine zones. The base of the mountains is covered by coniferous forests, dominated by firs, pines and Japanese cedar. Deciduous forests and woodlands, dominated by Mongolian oak and Japanese beech are present. Taichō
was a shugendō monk in Nara period Japan. He was raised in Echizen Province, which was in the southern portion of present-day Fukui Prefecture. He was the second son of Mikami Yasuzumi (三神安角).
