Mount Narryer
Mount Narryer is a mountain in Western Australia. It is located about north of Yalgoo and north east of Kalbarri in the Mid West region of Western Australia. Situated along the Murchison River, the mountain is surrounded by mulga scrubland. The mountain itself is a fin shaped rocky outcrop long and wide, and juts out from the red sandy desert floor. Mount Narryer is within the boundaries of Mount Narryer Station, which was established in about 1880. Tiny fragments of zircon collected from Mount Narryer and the nearby Jack Hills have been dated at over four billion years old. Hamersley Range
The Hamersley Range is a mountainous region of the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The range was named on 12 June 1861 by explorer Francis Thomas Gregory after Edward Hamersley (senior), Edward Hamersley, a prominent promoter of his exploration expedition to the northwest. Juukan Gorge lies within the ranges, as does Karijini National Park (formerly known as Hamersley Range National Park). Yalgoo, Western Australia
Yalgoo is a town in the Mid-west region, north-north-east of Perth, Western Australia and east-north-east of Mullewa. Yalgoo is in the local government area of the Shire of Yalgoo. Before it was settled as a town the Yalgoo area was used as grazing land for European settlers including the Morrissey and Broad families. Flocks of sheep were herded onto the rich pastures during the wet growing season and driven back to coastal properties for shearing before summer. Over time the graziers saw the value in the Yalgoo land and began to establish the first sheep stations. History Gold was discovered in the area in the early 1890s, and by 1895 there were 120 men working the diggings and buildings being erected. Murchison River (Western Australia)
The Murchison River is the second longest river in Western Australia. It flows for about from the southern edge of the Robinson Ranges to the Indian Ocean at Kalbarri. The Murchison-Yalgar-Hope river system is the longest river system in Western Australia. It has a mean annual flow of 208 gigalitres, although in 2006, the peak year on record since 1967, flow was 1,806gigalitres. ''Acacia citrinoviridis'', commonly known as black mulga, river jam, milhan or wantan, is a tree in the family Fabaceae that is native to western Australia. Description Black mulga typically grows to a height of about and often has a weeping habit. It usually has just one trunk and has grey fissured bark on the trunk and larger branches. Like most ''Acacia'' species, it has phyllodes rather than true leaves. These are a grey-olive colour, and may be up to long and about wide. The flowers are yellow, and held in cylindrical clusters. Mount Narryer Station
Mount Narryer or Mount Narryer Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station and had previously operated as a sheep station. Description It is located about north of Yalgoo and north east of Kalbarri in the Mid West region of Western Australia. Mount Narryer occupies an area of leasehold and freehold with a carrying capacity of 11,000 sheep. Situated along the Murchison River, the property is broken into 18 paddocks of mulga scrubland with one permanent spring, four dams and 40 bores equipped with windmills.
