Mount Murchison () is a dome-shaped, mostly snow-covered mountain, high, on the west side of the Mertz Glacier, about southwest of the head of Buchanan Bay (Antarctica), Buchanan Bay. Mount Murchison (Tasmania)
Mount Murchison is a mountain on the West Coast Range, located in the West Coast region of Tasmania, Australia. At above sea level, it is the highest mountain in the range and within the top thirty highest mountains in Tasmania. Location and features Lying close to the Williamsford and Tullah mining areas, the mountain is often found referred to in early photographs. It is located in the Mount Murchison Regional Reserve and lies east of Zeehan, and Mount Read, and north of Mount Tyndall. The track to the summit takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete with infrequent rests. The total walk to time to the summit and return is approximately 5.5 to 6 hrs. From the trig point the nearby Towns of Tullah, Rosebery and Zeehan can be seen on a clear day. Mount Murchison is for moderately experienced climbers and contains sections that includes loose and sometimes slippery rock. Mount Murchison is a mountain summit located at the convergence of the North Saskatchewan River valley and Mistaya River valley of Banff National Park, in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. The main summit has two high points: the Southeast Peak is 3,353 m, whereas the Northwest Peak is 3,333 m and separated by 700 m distance. Its nearest higher peak is Mount Cline, to the north. Mount Murchison is situated immediately southeast of the confluence of the North Saskatchewan River, Mistaya River, and Howse River near Saskatchewan Crossing, where the Icefields Parkway intersects with the David Thompson Highway. Braeburn Range
The Braeburn Range is a mountain range in the Tasman Region of New Zealand's South Island. It lies to the west of Lake Rotoroa and much of the eastern flank of the range is within the Nelson Lakes National Park. The range runs south-southeast, with a westwards curve at the northern end and several westward-trending spurs. The northernmost and highest peak of the range is the Mount Murchison overlooking the Buller River. The southern endpoint of the range is Mount Hutton () above the Tiraumea Saddle. The higher Ella Range lies to the south. Other peaks include Mount Pickering (), Mount Cotton (), Mount Baring (), and Twins (). The bush line is around in this area, so only the two highest peaks are not covered in bush. There is a radio and television transmission mast on top of Mount Murchison. The Murchison Mountains are a group of mountains in Fiordland National Park in New Zealand. It is the location where the South Island takahē, a type of bird presumed extinct, was rediscovered in 1948. The highest mountain is Mount Lyall at . Flora and fauna Native birds recorded in the area include takahē, mohua, whio, kea, kaka, kakariki, New Zealand falcon, weka, rock wren, tomtit, tui, bellbird, fantail, rifleman, grey warbler, brown creeper, silver-eye, pipit and kiwi. The 1948 discovery of the takahe, the largest living member of the rail family, happened after unrecognized bird footprints were found, and Geoffrey Orbell, an Invercargill-based physician, led an expedition to find the unknown bird. After this, an area of was set aside for the conservation of the takahē. To this day it is the only place where wild takahē can be seen.
