Mount Kōbō
lies east of Hadano in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It reaches a height of 235m above sea level, and together with the adjacent Mount Gongen and Mount Asama forms an area called Mount Kobo Park. Locally the three are often collectively referred to as ''Mount Kōbō''. Etymology According to folklore, Kōbō-Daishi trained at Mount Kōbō, giving rise to its name. Kūkai
Kūkai (; 27 July 774 – 22 April 835Kūkai was born in 774, the 5th year of the Hōki era; his exact date of birth was designated as the fifteenth day of the sixth month of the Japanese lunar calendar, some 400 years later, by the Shingon sect (Hakeda, 1972 p. 14).
