Mount Henry is a mountain summit located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, in Fresno County, California, Fresno County of northern California, United States. It is situated on the Le Conte Divide, along the shared boundary of John Muir Wilderness and Kings Canyon National Park, and northwest of Emerald Peak (California), Emerald Peak, the nearest higher neighbor. Topographic relief is significant as the east aspect rises above South Fork San Joaquin River in two miles. The John Muir Trail passes to the northeast, providing an approach option. Etymology The peak's name was applied in 1904 by Joseph Nisbet LeConte to honor Joseph Henry (1797–1878), an eminent American scientist noted for his investigations of electromagnetism, and who served as the first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Mount Henry () is a mountain, high, standing east of Simpson Peak in the Scott Mountains of Enderby Land, Antarctica. It was plotted from air photos taken from Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions aircraft in 1956. The name was first applied by John Biscoe in 1831 to a feature which cannot now be identified, and was probably after one of the Enderby Brothers Samuel Enderby & Sons was a whaling and sealing company based in London, England, founded circa 1775 by Samuel Enderby (1717–1797). The Commonwealth Range is a north-south trending range of rugged mountains, long, located within the Queen Maud Mountains on the Dufek Coast of the continent of Antarctica. The range borders the eastern side of Beardmore Glacier from the Ross Ice Shelf to Keltie Glacier. The range was discovered by the British Antarctic Expedition (1907–09) and named by the expedition after the Commonwealth of Australia, which gave much assistance to the expedition. The Supporters Range () is a rugged range in the Queen Maud Mountains of Antarctica. It is long, bordering the eastern side of Mill Glacier, from Keltie Glacier in the north to Mill Stream Glacier in the south. So named by the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE) (1961–62) because several peaks of the range are named after supporters of Ernest Shackleton's British Antarctic Expedition (1907–09). Location The northern point of the range lies between Keltie Glacier, flowing from the east, and Mill Glacier flowing from the south and converging with Beardmore Glacier. Ranfurly Point is its northernmost point. Laird Glacier flows from the range in Keltie Glacier, and Snakeskin Glacier flows along the northeast side of the range into Keltie Glacier.
