Mount Elvire Station
Mount Elvire Station was a pastoral lease and sheep station located approximately south west of Leonora in the Goldfields-Esperance region of Western Australia. The explorer John Forrest passed through the area in 1869. Travelling in the area to the north of Mount Elvire, which he named after his wife, he named the nearby Lake Barlee after the Colonial Secretary of Western Australia. The station encompasses a large peninsula of Lake Barlee at its northern boundary. The first persons to take up the lease were two German brothers named Reimal, . They effected much of the primary fencing and sunk several wells, stocking some 2,000 sheep. They were cricket lovers, and returning from Bullfinch (the nearest town), found all the stock had perished when the main well had become too salty for sheep to drink. The Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia (EPA) is a statutory authority within the Government of Western Australia, established on 1 January 1972, which acts as the primary provider of independent environmental advice to the government. Since 27 November 2009 it has been supported administratively by the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (OEPA), which was amalgamated with the Department of Environment Regulation and the Department of Water to form the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation on 1 July 2017. Mount Manning Nature Reserve
Mount Manning Range Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the Goldfields-Esperance, Goldfields region of Western Australia north of Southern Cross, Western Australia, Southern Cross in the area known as the Northern Yilgarn, in the Coolgardie bioregion. It originally covered an area of , but, as of 2022, its size stands at . The Mount Manning Range is located inside the reserve. On 14 May 2007 EPA Bulletin 1256 proposed an A Class Nature Reserve to be established. It was announced in September 2010. The reserve is one of a number of reserves being incorporated into the Northern Yilgarn Conservation Reserves Management Plan. The other reserves are Mount Elvire Conservation Park, Die Hardy Range Nature Reserve, Diemals/Mount Jackson/Windaring, and Juardi Conservation Park. The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) was a department of the Government of Western Australia that was responsible for implementing the state's conservation and environment legislation and regulations. It was formed on 1 July 2006 by the amalgamation of the Department of Environment and the Department of Conservation and Land Management. Gingin is a town in Western Australia, located on the Brand Highway north of the Perth city centre. It is the council seat for the Shire of Gingin local government area. Gingin had a population of 852 at the . Cue is a small town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, located 620 km north-east of Perth. At the 2016 census, Cue had a population of 178. Cue is administered through the Cue Shire Council, which has its chambers in the historic Gentlemans Club building. The current president is Ross Pigdon.
