Geography The locality has the following named peaks: * Mount Edwards (Indigenous name: Moogerah) () * Little Mount Edwards () Most of the north, centre and east of the locality is occupied by the mountain Mount Edwards. Its upper parts are within the Moogerah Peaks National Park; its lower slopes remain undeveloped bushland. The south and west of the locality is farm land, mostly used for grazing on native vegetation. The Cunningham Highway enters the locality from the north (Aratalua), passes west of the mountain, and exits to the south-west ( Tarome/ Clumber). The Scenic Rim Region is a local government area in West Moreton region of South East Queensland, Australia. Established in 2008, it was preceded by several previous local government areas with histories extending back to the early 1900s and beyond. The main town of the region is Beaudesert. Aratula is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Aratula had a population of 532 people. Geography Aratula is approximately by road southwest of Ipswich. The Cunningham Highway enters the locality from the north-east ( Fassifern), passes through the town, and exits to the south ( Mount Edwards). Warrill Creek enters the locality from the west ( Tarome), flows across the north of the locality (and north of the town), exiting to the east ( Morwincha). It is a tributary of the Bremer River, then the Brisbane River, flowing into Moreton Bay. Geography Kalbar is in the Scenic Rim in South East Queensland, 70 km south-west of Central Brisbane. History In 1877, were resumed from the Fassifern pastoral run and offered for selection on 19 April 1877. By 1890 a small town had developed. Mount Edwards Railway Line
The Mount Edwards railway line was a branch railway in the Scenic Rim region of South East Queensland, Australia. The lines serves a number of small towns in the Fassifern Valley. The first stage of the Mount Edwards line opened from Munbilla to Engelsburg (now Kalbar) on 17 April 1916, but the next stage to Mount Edwards was not completed until 7 October 1922. The line closed on 1 November 1960. Geography The 25 km long line branched off the Dugandan line at the rural locality of Munbilla 38 km south of the city of Ipswich. The line then proceeded in a generally south-westerly direction to the locality of Mount Edwards near the village of Aratula. Cunningham Highway
The Cunningham Highway is a national highway located in south-eastern Queensland, Australia. The highway links the Darling Downs region with the urbanised outskirts of via Cunninghams Gap. The Cunningham carries the National Highway 15 shield between Ipswich and north of at its junction with the New England Highway at Glengallan where both the Cunningham and the New England head south concurrently to Warwick. Thereafter, the Cunningham carries the National Highway 42 shield to its south-western terminus with the Leichhardt Highway at Goondiwindi. Moogerah Peaks National Park
Moogerah Peaks is a National Park in the Fassifern Valley of South East Queensland, Australia, located approximately 70 km south west of the state capital Brisbane. The 676-hectare park consists of four separate protected areas which surround volcanic peaks and rocky cliffs near Moogerah Dam. Environment Because the peaks are relatively inaccessible the natural vegetation of the area has remained intact. The vegetation is mostly open eucalypt forest with montane heath on exposed rock faces. In sheltered areas there are some patches of rainforest. Mount Edwards is a mountain in South East Queensland, Australia. The mountain rises above sea level and is part of the Moogerah Peaks National Park. It lies within its namesake locality Mount Edwards, approximately 100 km south west of Brisbane approximately 17 km (10.5 mi) from the town of Boonah. The mountain is the closest of the Moogerah Peaks to the Cunningham Highway and is 9 km south of Aratula. Other prominent peaks in this Scenic Rim group of mountains includes Mount French, Mount Moon and Mount Greville. Explorer John Oxley named the mountain Mount Banister in 1824. Later renamed in 1828 by Alan Cunningham after Lieutenant George Edwards.
