Mount Carpe is a mountain in the Alaska Range, in Denali National Park and Preserve, on a northeast buttress of Denali. The Carpe Ridge includes Mount Tatum. Denali Borough, Alaska
The Denali Borough is a borough located in the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2020 census the population of the borough was 1,619, down from 1,826 in 2010. The borough seat and most populated community is Healy, and its only incorporated place is Anderson. The borough was incorporated in December 1990. The area was previously a part of the Unorganized Borough, with the Upper Railbelt School District serving as the region's rural education attendance area (which was replaced by a school district under the borough's umbrella upon incorporation). The earliest inhabitants were nomadic native Alaskans. A mining camp was established near Healy prior to 1902, and construction of the Alaska Railroad brought additional settlers to the area in the early 1920s. Denali National Park and Preserve, formerly known as Mount McKinley National Park, is an American national park and preserve located in Interior Alaska, centered on Denali, the highest mountain in North America. The park and contiguous preserve encompass which is larger than the state of New Hampshire. On December 2, 1980, Denali Wilderness was established within the park. Mount Tatum is a mountain in the Alaska Range, in Denali National Park and Preserve. Allen Carpé
Allen Carpé (December 20th, 1894 – May 9, 1932) was an American engineer and mountaineer who is the namesake of Mount Carpe in Alaska. He was the first person to have reached the summit of Mount Bona and Mount Fairweather. Biography Carpé was born in Chicago on December 20, 1894, and spent his early years in Xenia, Ohio. His father was a musician who died when Carpé was young and his mother, was the daughter of the poet Coates Kinney and a descendant of Ezra Cornell, founder of Western Union and Cornell University. Carpé was educated in Germany, and spent a year at the University of Berlin before entering Columbia University, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. He developed an interest in mountain climbing during his days in Germany, when he would spend his holidays in the Alps and the Carpathian Mountains.
