Mount Arab, sometimes known as Arab Mountain, is a mountain located in the town of Piercefield, New York, in the northern part of the Adirondack Mountain Range. Fire Tower
A fire lookout tower, fire tower or lookout tower, provides housing and protection for a person known as a "fire lookout" whose duty it is to search for wildfires in the wilderness. It is a small building, usually on the summit of a mountain or other high vantage point, to maximize viewing distance and range, known as ''view shed''. Piercefield is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 310 at the 2010 census. The Town of Piercefield is in the southeastern corner of the county and is southeast of Canton. History The area of Piercefield town was first settled as in the early 1800s. The town was organized from part of Hopkinton town in 1900. The 1933 closing of the International Paper factory led to an economic downturn in the town. The Arab Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic fire observation station located on Mount Arab at Piercefield in St. Lawrence County, New York.
