Moulton, Cheshire
Moulton is a civil parish and village in Cheshire, England, south of Northwich and north of Winsford. History The village can trace its history back to the Norman Conquest. Moletune is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 as being among the estates of Baron Richard de Vernon of Shipbrook. George Ormerod described the village in 1882 thus: 'Moulton occupies a high ridge of ground, running parallel with the general course of the Weaver, and commanding a most extensive view over the vales of that river, and of the Mersey, in the several directions of Delamere Forest and Lancashire.' During the 19th century the character of the village changed from purely agricultural to a more mixed economy. Many workers in the salt mining industry, which lined the banks of the River Weaver, made their homes in Moulton. The factory owners built the terraced housing in Church Street and Regent Street for their employees, and in 1884 they opened the Verdin Institute complete with reading room, lib ...

Moulton (horse)
Moulton (23 April 1969 – 1981) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. After finishing unplaced on his only start as a juvenile, Moulton improved to become a high-class middle-distance performer in 1972, winning the White Rose Stakes, Prix Ridgway and Prix Henri Delamarre as well as placing second in the Dante Stakes and the Prix du Prince d'Orange. He reached his peak as a four-year-old in 1973 when he won the Premio Presidente della Repubblica and finished second in the Eclipse Stakes before recording a 14/1 upset win in the Benson and Hedges Gold Cup. He was retired from racing and had limited success as a breeding stallion. Background Moulton was a "big, strong, most attractive" bay horse with a white blaze and a white sock on his right hind foot bred by his owner Ralph "Budgie" Moller at his White Lodge Stud. Moller sent the colt to be trained in Newmarket by Harry Wragg at his Abington Place stable. He was one of the best horses sired by Pardao who was a t ...

Moulton Plane
In incidence geometry, the Moulton plane is an example of an affine plane in which Desargues's theorem does not hold. It is named after the American astronomer Forest Ray Moulton. The points of the Moulton plane are simply the points in the real plane R2 and the lines are the regular lines as well with the exception that for lines with a negative slope, the slope doubles when they pass the ''y''-axis. Formal definition The Moulton plane is an incidence structure \mathfrak M=\langle P, G,\textrm I\rangle, where P denotes the set of points, G the set of lines and \textrm I the incidence relation "lies on": : P:=\mathbb R^2 \, : G:=(\mathbb R \cup \) \times \mathbb R, \infty is just a formal symbol for an element \not\in\mathbb R. It is used to describe vertical lines, which you may think of as lines with an infinitely large slope. The incidence relation is defined as follows: For p = (x, y) \in P and g = (m, b) \in G we have : p\,\textrm I\,g\iff\begin x=b&\textm=\infty\\ y=\fracm ...

Moulton (crater)
Moulton is a crater on the Moon's far side, just beyond the south-southwestern limb as seen from the Earth. The crater is attached to the southern edge of Chamberlin, and it lies at the northern terminus of the Vallis Schrödinger. There is a cleft in the shared rim between Chamberlin and Moulton. This is a worn crater with an outer rim that is not quite circular. There are straight lengths in the rim to the west and northeast, as well as the common rim shared with Chamberlin to the north. Attached to the eastern outer rim is the satellite crater Moulton H. The interior floor has been resurfaced, although the albedo is not as low as the lava Lava is molten or partially molten rock (magma) that has been expelled from the interior of a terrestrial planet (such as Earth) or a moon onto its surface. Lava may be erupted at a volcano or through a fracture in the crust, on land or un ...-flooded interior of Chamberlin. There are no craters of note on Moulton's rim or within the ...

Moulton Bicycle
Moulton is an English bicycle manufacturer based in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire. The company was founded in 1962 by Alex Moulton (1920–2012) who had designed the "Hydrolastic" and rubber cone suspension systems for the BMC Mini motorcar. Moulton bicycles are noted for unconventional frame design, small wheels, and front and rear suspension. A misconception about Moultons is that they fold in the manner of more recent designs by manufacturers such as Brompton, Bickerton or Dahon. This is not true, though the Moulton design paved the way for such designs and various Moultons over the years have been made in separable versions allowing relatively easy dismantling for transportation or storage. Thus although Moultons are often included in the folding bicycle category along with small-wheel folders, small-wheel bicycles would be a more technically correct term covering all such bicycles. Mass-appeal versions such as the Standard and Deluxe were complemented by Speed versions u ...
