''Mouchak'' (Bengali: মৌচাক) is a Bengali romantic comedy film directed by Arabinda Mukhopadhyay and produced under the banner of Pratima Pictures. The film stars Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Ranjit Mullick, Mithu Mukherjee, Sulata Choudhury, Ratna Ghoshal, and Nripati Chattopadhyay in lead roles. Mithu Mukherjee (actress)
Mithu Mukherjee ( bn, মিঠু মুখার্জী ) is a former Indian actress who appeared in Hindi as well as Bengali cinema. She made her debut in a 1971 Bengali film ''Shesh Parba'' directed by Chitta Bose. She was catapulted to stardom after she had donned the role of Marjina in Dinen Gupta's ''Marjina Abdulla'' (1973) and sustained it with further roles in Bengali films such as ''Nishi Kanya'' (1973), '' Mouchak'' (1974), ''Swayamsiddha'' (1975), ''Hotel Snow Fox'' (1976), ''Bhagyachakra'' (1980) and ''Sandhi'' (1980). Arabinda Mukhopadhyay (18 June 1919 – 10 February 2016) was an Indian filmmaker, film director and editor, who directed all-time classics like Nishi Padma (1970), Dhanyee Meye (1971) and Mouchak (1974). Sabitri Chatterjee (born 22 February 1937) is an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali theatre and cinema. Her career spans more than 60 years. She is the recipient of BFJA Awards for two times. In 1999, she was conferred with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Acting in Bengali theatre. In 2013, she was awarded by the Government of West Bengal its highest civilian award; the Banga Bibhushan. Sulata Chowdhury (1945 – 16 September 1997) was a Bengali actress and theatre personality. Chowdhury made her film debut with ''Debarshi Narader Sansar'' (1960). As a leading actress her first film was Sudhir Mukherjee's ''Shesh Paryanta'' (1960) which was a prominent success at the box office. Kamu Mukherjee (14 June 1931 – 6 December 2003) was a Bengali actor, best known for his role as Mandar Bose in '' Sonar Kella'' and Harun in Sandip Ray's first film '' Phatik Chand''. Career Mukherjee's first film appearance was in the 1959 film ''Sonar Harin'' with Uttam Kumar, Chhabi Biswas and Bhanu Bandopadhyay. He had gone to Satyajit Ray's house and approached Ray to act in his films and, thereafter, he worked with Ray in nine films. Mukherjee is known for his performances in different types of roles, both serious and comic, in Ray's films. His acting in the knife throwing scene in the film '' Joi Baba Felunath'' is one of the more remembered scenes from the filmmaker's oeuvre. Chinmoy Roy (1940–2019) was an Indian Bengali male actor. He was famous for his comic roles in Bengali movies, though his versatility has allowed him to play a variety of roles. Though he was known for portraying various character roles, Roy was equally at ease in portraying the famous fictional character Tenida on screen.
