Motueka Valley Highway
State Highway 61 (SH 61) is a former New Zealand state highway in the Tasman Region of the South Island. It links the coastal town of Motueka with SH 6, the main route to the South Island's West Coast. Along with several other state highways, its status was revoked at the beginning of the 1990s. The route is now usually referred to as the Motueka Valley Highway. Route description SH 61 provided (and still provides, without its former status) a short-cut route for vehicles travelling between the Golden Bay and western Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere areas and the town of Westport, New Zealand and other parts of the West Coast and Buller. The former SH 61 largely follows the valley of the Motueka River. Starting just to the south of central Motueka, the route is initially due west along College Street, passing along the southern edge of Motueka Aerodrome. Tasman District Council
Tasman District Council ( mi, Te Kaunihera o te tai o Aorere) is the unitary local authority for the Tasman District of New Zealand. The council is led by the mayor of Tasman, who is currently . Tasman elects its 13 councillors from five different wards: three from Motueka, three from Moutere/Waimea, four from Richmond, one from Murchison and two from Golden Bay. Buller District is one of 53 districts of New Zealand, and is within the West Coast Region. It covers Westport, Karamea, Reefton and Inangahua Junction. Buller District's overall land area is . Ngātīmoti
Ngātīmoti or Ngatimoti is a town near Motueka in New Zealand's South Island. The town lies on the banks of the Motueka River and has been inhabited since 1855 when the Salisbury brothers arrived in the river valley. The local economy includes forestry, apple orchards and sheep and dairy farming. It is connected to the town of Motueka by the Motueka Valley Highway (formerly ). History The name for this community originated after a Māori boy with the Christian baptismal name Timothy (''Tīmoti'') carved his name into a tree at the corner of what is now Ngatimoti school. On 1 January 1863 the town featured the first formal gathering of the Brethren religious movement, at the house of a local settler, James George Deck and by the 1900 census the movement had nearly 2% of the total NZ population. Motueka Aerodrome
Motueka Aerodrome is the airport serving Motueka, New Zealand, and is owned and managed by Tasman District Council. The current runway is 729 metres long and 11 metres wide with an asphalt surface. This is an adequate length to operate Piper Navajo aircraft. The aerodrome has no control tower, but hangars and refuelling facilities are available. Motueka River
The Motueka River is located in the north of the South Island of New Zealand and is a popular tourist destination for watersports and fishing. Motueka is a town in the South Island of New Zealand, close to the mouth of the Motueka River on the western shore of Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere. Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere
Tasman Bay (; officially Tasman Bay / Te Tai-o-Aorere), originally known in English as Blind Bay, is a large V-shaped bay at the north end of New Zealand's South Island. Located in the centre of the island's northern coast, it stretches along of coastline and is across at its widest point. It is an arm of the Tasman Sea, lying on the western approach to Cook Strait. At the bay's western extremity, the land around the bay is rough and densely forested. Separation Point, the westernmost point of the bay, is located in Abel Tasman National Park and separates Tasman Bay from its smaller neighbour, Golden Bay.
