Motu Koita Assembly
The Motu Koita Assembly is the landowner representative body of the Motu and Koitabu people, established as an Assembly by an act of the Parliament of Papua New Guinea. It is the only Assembly of its kind in Papua New Guinea. The current Chair of the Motu Koita Assembly is Dadi Toka Jr. The Chair of the Motu Koita Assembly also holds the office of Deputy Governor of National Capital District. Dadi Toka Jr
Dadi Toka Jr (born 8 August 1977) is a Papua New Guinean businessman and the Chairman of the Motu Koita Assembly, a traditional landowner representative group established as an Assembly by an act of the Parliament of Papua New Guinea. The Chairman of the Motu Koita Assembly is also Deputy Governor of National Capital District, which was established on the lands of the Motu and Koitabu people. Education Toka Jr is the youngest child of a large Motuan family and is named after his father, who was among the first council members to be elected after the Motu Koita Assembly was established in 1991. He attended international school in Port Moresby, followed by Anglican Church Grammar School from 1991 to 1995. He attended Queensland University of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Motu People
The Motu are Indigenous peoples of Oceania, native inhabitants of Papua New Guinea, living along the southern coastal area of the country. Their indigenous language is also known as Motu language, Motu, and like several other languages of the region is an Austronesian languages, Austronesian language. They and the Koitabu people are the original inhabitants and owners of the land on which Port Moresby — the national capital city — stands. The largest Motu village is Hanuabada, northwest of Port Moresby. History Friedrich Ratzel in ''The History of Mankind'' reported in 1896 on tattooing in Melanesia. National Parliament Of Papua New Guinea
The National Parliament of Papua New Guinea is the unicameral national legislature in Papua New Guinea. It was created in 1964 as the House of Assembly of Papua and New Guinea but gained its current name after the nation was granted independence in 1975. The 111 members of parliament serve five-year terms, 89 of whom are chosen from single-member "open" electorates, which are sometimes referred to as "seats" but are officially known as constituencies. The remaining 22 are chosen from single-member provincial electorates: the 20 provinces, the autonomous province of Bougainville (North Solomons), and the National Capital District. Each provincial member becomes governor of their province unless they take a ministerial position, in which case the governorship passes to an open member of the province. National Capital District (Papua New Guinea)
The National Capital District of Papua New Guinea is the incorporated area around Port Moresby, which is the capital of Papua New Guinea. Although it is surrounded by Central Province, where Port Moresby is also the capital, it is technically not a part of that province. It covers an area of 240 km2 and has a population of 364,125 (2011 census). It is represented by three open MPs and an NCD-wide representative in the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea who acts as Governor of the National Capital District; however, these MPs do not have the same powers as elsewhere in the country due to the role of the National Capital District Commission. Port Moresby
(; Tok Pisin: ''Pot Mosbi''), also referred to as Pom City or simply Moresby, is the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea. It is one of the largest cities in the southwestern Pacific (along with Jayapura) outside of Australia and New Zealand. It is located on the shores of the Gulf of Papua, on the south-western coast of the Papuan Peninsula of the island of New Guinea. The city emerged as a trade centre in the second half of the 19th century. During World War II, it was a prime objective for conquest by the Imperial Japanese forces during 1942–43 as a staging point and air base to cut off Australia from Southeast Asia and the Americas. As of the 2011 census, Port Moresby had 364,145 inhabitants. An unofficial 2020 estimate gives the population as 383,000.
