''Motorvision'' is a home video by the American grunge band Soundgarden. It was released on November 17, 1992. Overview It features eight songs performed live at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington on March 5 and 6, 1992, during the ''Badmotorfinger'' tour. AllMusic gave it three out of a possible five stars. AllMusic staff writer Greg Prato said, "''Motorvision'' is an excellent sample of Soundgarden in concert." ''Motorvision'' was originally released on VHS only. An official DVD version was finally made available, with various live videos added as extras, in November 2016 as part of the ''Badmotorfinger'' 25th anniversary Super Deluxe edition box set. ''Badmotorfinger'' is the third studio album by American rock band Soundgarden, released on October 8, 1991, through A&M Records. Soundgarden began the recording sessions for the album with new bassist Ben Shepherd in the spring of 1991. The album maintained the band's heavy metal sound, while featuring an increased focus on songwriting compared to the band's previous releases. AllMusic considered the album's music to be "surprisingly cerebral and arty"; alternative tunings and odd time signatures were present on several of the album's songs, and lyrics were intended to be ambiguous and evocative. The focus on the Seattle grunge scene helped bring attention to ''Badmotorfinger'', and the singles "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage" were able to find a major audience in rock radio and MTV. ''Louder Than Live'' is a home video by the American rock band Soundgarden, featuring songs performed live at the Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, California on December 7 and 10, 1989. It was directed by Kevin Kerslake, and released on May 22, 1990. Overview ''Louder Than Live'' features five live tracks filmed during the ''Louder Than Love'' tour, namely, "Get on the Snake", "Gun", "I Awake", "Big Dumb Sex", and a medley of Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom" and Cheech & Chong's "Earache My Eye", with footage from both concerts mixed together. Hunter Benedict Shepherd (born September 20, 1968) is an American musician, best known as the bassist of the rock band Soundgarden from 1990 to 2019. Shepherd has won two Grammy Awards as a member of Soundgarden. Early life Shepherd was born in an American military base in Okinawa. His father worked in the Nike missile program and played the guitar. His family moved to Allen, Texas, then settled in Kingston, Washington, where Shepherd grew up. Shepherd became interested in music after listening to Johnny Cash on television. When Shepherd asked his father for a guitar, his father complied only after insisting he must learn every chord in a large book with nothing but a guitar neck. Kim Anand Thayil (born September 4, 1960) is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist of the Seattle-based rock band Soundgarden, which he co-founded with singer Chris Cornell and bassist Hiro Yamamoto in 1984. Cornell and Thayil remained as the original members of the band until Cornell's death in 2017, and the band's subsequent split in 2018.
