Mother And Child (Gordine)
''Mother and Child'' is a public artwork by the Estonian-British artist Dora Gordine, located at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA), which is near downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The cast bronze artwork was created in 1964 and portrays a woman kneeling beside a small child, both figures displaying joyful poses and expressions. Description This cast bronze sculptural group shows two human figures linked by their hands. The dominant figure, much larger and central to the artwork, is a woman (the mother) who kneels so that her lower body is angled toward the proper right of the artwork. She seems to rest her weight on the knee of her folded left leg, while her right leg is outstretched in nearly the same direction as the left. Her torso is turned dramatically to her left in such a way that her outstretched arms, horizontal and aligned with her shoulders, are parallel to her right leg, and her face and shoulders are angled just slightly to the proper right of a frontal focus. She we ...

Mother And Child (Cassatt)
''Mother and Child (The Oval Mirror)'' is an oil-on-canvas painting by the American Impressionist artist Mary Cassatt. The painting depicts a mother and her child in front of a mirror. The painting provides a glimpse of the domestic life of a mother and her child, evoking religious iconography from the Italian Renaissance. However, portrayals of a mother and her child are common in Cassatt's work, so it is possible that this similarity is coincidental rather than intentional. It is unclear when exactly Cassatt painted ''Mother and Child'', but it was acquired by dealer Durand-Ruel in 1898. Durand-Ruel sold the painting to the Havemeyers in 1899. The Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired the painting in 1929. Context From 1881 to 1891, Cassatt's reputation grew as she began to focus on mother-and-child subjects. In addition to ''Mother and Child (The Oval Mirror),'' Cassatt painted several other depictions of mother-and-child subjects. Revisiting the same subject was common among ...

Mother And Child (Sliders)
The following is a list of episodes for the Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox and Syfy, Sci Fi Channel original series ''Sliders (TV series), Sliders''. The series aired on Fox from March 1995 to May 1997 and on the Sci Fi Channel from June 1998 to February 2000. A total of 88 episodes were produced. Series overview Episodes Season 1 (1995) Fox changed the intended order of the episodes, beginning with episodes they thought would draw in audiences. This often causes confusion and sometimes chronological errors in continuity with respect to the story arc (for example, episode 5 "Prince of Wails" opens with the resolution to the cliffhanger brought about in episode 6 "Summer of Love"). The intended and filmed order of the episodes is shown by the production code order of the episodes, with the pilot being first. Season 2 (1996) As in Season 1, Fox again broadcast the episodes out of their intended order, this time even changing the finale. The intended order of the episodes is sh ...

Tenebrae (choir)
The Tenebrae Choir is a London-based professional vocal ensemble founded and directed by former King's Singer Nigel Short. Co-founded by Short and Barbara Pollock in 2001, its repertoire covers works from the 16th to the 21st centuries. The choir was launched in 2001 with a performance of Nigel Short's own composition, ''The Dream of Herod'', created to demonstrate a more "theatrical" style of performing within religious buildings, involving movement around the performance venue as well as dramatic use of lighting and ambiance. In 2006 it toured Joby Talbot's '' Path of Miracles'' to the churches in Spain on the Camino route, and formed an association with the London Symphony Orchestra, making recordings for LSO Live with the conductor Colin Davis. The choir's albums include ''Allegri: Miserere'', which includes choral works ranging from Gregorio Allegri's Miserere to works by Benjamin Britten and John Tavener, released on the Signum Classics label. When Tenebrae toured New Yor ...

Mother And Child Reunion
"Mother and Child Reunion" is a song by the American singer-songwriter Paul Simon. It was the lead single from his second studio album, ''Paul Simon'' (1972), released on Columbia Records. Background It was at the time one of the few songs by a non-Jamaican musician to use prominent elements of reggae. Simon was a fan of reggae music, and he listened to artists such as Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, and Byron Lee; he wanted to go to Kingston, Jamaica to record the song, as that was where Cliff had recorded his antiwar song "Vietnam" in 1970. The title has its origin in a chicken-and-egg dish called "Mother and Child Reunion" that Simon saw on a Chinese restaurant's menu. The song's lyrics were inspired by a pet dog that was run over and killed. It was the first death Simon personally experienced, and he began to wonder how he would react if the same happened to his first wife, Peggy Harper. "Somehow there was a connection between this death and Peggy and it was like Heaven, I don ...
