Mother's Choice
''Mother's Choice'' is the fourth album for Australian Rock music, rock band Buffalo (band), Buffalo, recorded during 1975 and 1976 and originally released in 1976 by Vertigo Records. After the dismissal of founding guitarist John Baxter at the end of 1974, the band underwent both a major line up change, and a shift towards more commercially oriented hard rock in a bid to attain greater radio airplay (which had eluded them up to this point) and mainstream acceptance. However, ''Mother's Choice'' received a backlash both critically and commercially. Also in contrast to ''Volcanic Rock (album), Volcanic Rock'' and ''Only Want You For Your Body'', the artwork ''Mother's Choice'' was overtly conservative. Buffalo (band)
Buffalo was an Australian rock band formed in August 1971 by founding mainstay Dave Tice on lead vocals (ex-Head). Fellow founders, also from Head, were Paul Balbi on drums, John Baxter on guitar, and Peter Wells on bass guitar; together with Alan Milano on lead vocals (ex-Mandala). Milano left after their debut album, '' Dead Forever...'' (June 1972), and Balbi was replaced on drums by Jimmy Economou. Their next two albums, ''Volcanic Rock'' (July 1973) and '' Only Want You for Your Body'' (June 1974), were also issued by Vertigo Records. After 1975 line-up changes resulted in a more commercial sound and the group disbanded in March 1977. Little Queenie
"Little Queenie" is a song written and recorded by Chuck Berry. Released in March 1959 as a double A-side single with " Almost Grown", it was included on ''Chuck Berry Is on Top'' (1959), Berry's first compilation album. He performed the song in the movies ''Go, Johnny Go!'' (1959) and ''Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll'' (1987). One year earlier, Berry had released "Run Rudolph Run", a Christmas song with the same melody. Background The song was recorded on November 19, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. Backing Berry on vocals and guitar were either Johnnie Johnson or Lafayette Leake on piano, Willie Dixon on bass, and Fred Below on drums. In a song review for AllMusic, Matthew Greenwald calls it an "incredible rock & roll anthem" and "one of the greatest dance/sex ritualistic classics." It is included several of Berry's compilation albums, including ''The Great Twenty-Eight'' and '' Chuck Berry's Golden Decade''. Mark Simmonds (1955 – September 2020) was a New Zealand-Australian jazz tenor saxophonist, composer, and leader of the group The Freeboppers. Slide Guitar
Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice. It typically involves playing the guitar in the traditional position (flat against the body) with the use of a slide fitted on one of the guitarist's fingers. The slide may be a metal or glass tube, such as the neck of a bottle. The term bottleneck was historically used to describe this type of playing. The strings are typically plucked (not strummed) while the slide is moved over the strings to change the pitch. Peter Wells (guitarist)
Peter William "Pete" Wells (31 December 194627 March 2006) was the founder and slide guitarist in Australian hard rock band, Rose Tattoo, from 1976 to 1983. He was previously bass guitarist with the pioneering heavy metal music, heavy metal outfit Buffalo (band), Buffalo from 1971 to 1976. Wells also had a solo career and issued albums, ''Everything You Like Tries to Kill You'' (1991), ''The Meaning of Life'' (1992), ''No Hard Feelings'' (1993), ''Orphans'' (1994), ''Go Ahead, Call the Cops'' (1996), ''It's All Fun and Games 'till Somebody Gets Hurt'' (1999), ''Hateball'' (2000) and ''Solo'' (2002). In 2002 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and, on 27 March 2006, Wells died of the disease, aged 59. B-side
The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. The B-side (or "flip-side") is a secondary recording that typically receives less attention, although some B-sides have been as successful as, or more so than, their A-sides. Use of this language has largely declined in the 21st century as the music industry has transitioned away from analog recordings towards digital formats without physical sides, such as CDs, downloads and streaming. Robert William Troup Jr. (October 18, 1918 – February 7, 1999) was an American actor, jazz pianist, singer, and songwriter. "Sweet Little Sixteen" is a rock and roll song written and first recorded by Chuck Berry, who released it as a single in January 1958. Trafalgar Theatre is a new West End theatre in Whitehall, near Trafalgar Square, in the City of Westminster, London.
