Moss is a musical language designed by composer Jackson Moore. Musical Language
Musical languages are constructed languages based on musical sounds, which tend to incorporate articulation. Unlike tonal languages, focused on stress, and whistled languages, focused on pitch bends, musical languages distinguish pitches or rhythms. Whistled languages are dependent on an underlying spoken languages and are used in various cultures as a means for communication over distance, or as secret codes. The mystical concept of a language of the birds tries to connect the two categories, since some authors of musical ''a priori'' languages have speculated about a mystical or primeval origin of the whistled languages. Constructed musical languages There are only a few language families as of now such as the Solresol language family, Moss language family, and Nibuzigu language family. Jackson Moore
Jackson Moore is an alto saxophonist and composer living in New York. Career When he was 17, Moore studied with Jackie McLean and Anthony Braxton in Connecticut. Between 1997 and 2001, Moore toured with Braxton and participated in the development of his Ghost Trance music. From 2010 to 2013, Moore worked at Eyebeam Art and Technology Center, where he explored auditory localization and social practice. Moore then moved to Bennington College as their digital arts technician from Spring 2015 to Autumn 2016. Pidgin
A pidgin , or pidgin language, is a grammatically simplified means of communication that develops between two or more groups of people that do not have a language in common: typically, its vocabulary and grammar are limited and often drawn from several languages. It is most commonly employed in situations such as trade, or where both groups speak languages different from the language of the country in which they reside (but where there is no common language between the groups). Linguists do not typically consider pidgins as full or complete languages. Fundamentally, a pidgin is a simplified means of linguistic communication, as it is constructed impromptu, or by convention, between individuals or groups of people. Bruce High Quality Foundation
The Bruce High Quality Foundation is an arts collective in Brooklyn, New York City, the United States, which was "created to foster an alternative to everything." The collective is made up of five to eight rotating and anonymous members, most or all of whom are Cooper Union graduates. The group has attracted attention with the subversive, humorous and erudite style of their work and operates an unaccredited art school, the Bruce High Quality Foundation University. History and work The collective was formed in 2004. Its members remain anonymous, in protest against the "star-making machinery of the art market", but it is known that they are a group of mostly men and some women, and that some of them met and became friends while studying art at Cooper Union. The group is named after a fictional artist, "Bruce High Quality", who supposedly perished in the 9/11 attack.
