Moss (band)
Moss was a three-piece English doom metal band that formed in 2001. Influenced by H. P. Lovecraft and the occult, songs usually average the 20 minute mark and incorporate dense and otherworldly atmospheres. Despite the use of extreme bass frequencies, Moss features no bass guitarist. Biography Demo years Formed in Southampton, England, at the end of 2000, the band consists of Olly Pearson (vocals), Dominic Finbow (guitar) and Chris Chantler (drums). Moss self-released several demo recordings during its early years, the first being in 2001, and also appeared on a number of split records and compilation albums with bands such as Wolfmangler, Nadja, Unearthly Trance, Grief and Torture Wheel. Chris Chantler is a British comedy writer, occasional performer, and doom metal musician. His work includes ''An A-Z of The British Countryside'' (BBC 7), ''Peacefully In Their Sleeps'' ( Radio 4), ''Two Posh Old Men'' (UKTV), ''The Milk Run'' (BBC Radio 1), and ''Stairlift To Heaven'' in the Children's BBC comedy showcase slot Gina's Laughing Gear. He also provided material for three of Howard Read's Edinburgh Festival shows. Chris has recently had success as co-writer and occasional actor in the 13 episodes of "Little Howard's Big Question" which aired on Children's BBC January 2009 through March 2009. He has written for ''Terrorizer'' since 2000 and also plays drums in the extreme doom band Moss. Disclose were a Japanese punk rock band from Kōchi City, heavily influenced by Discharge. Discharge are an English hardcore punk band formed in 1977 in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The band is known for influencing several sub-genres of extreme music and their songs have been covered by some of the biggest names in heavy metal and other genres. The musical sub-genre of D-beat is named after Discharge and the band's distinctive drumbeat. The band is characterized by a minimalistic approach to music and lyrics, using a heavy, distorted and grinding guitar-driven sound and raw, shouted vocals similar to a political speech, with lyrics on anarchist and pacifist themes, over intense drone-like rhythms. Monarch (in the U.S. often stylised Monarch!) was a French doom metal band from Bayonne, formed in 2002. History The band were formed in 2002 in Bayonne, France. In 2004, they released their debut, a double CD with three tracks. Since then the band continued to release albums, various EPs, singles and splits with Moss, the Grey Daturas and Elysiüm. Camden Underworld is a music venue in Camden Town, London, England. The venue is a part of the World's End pub, situated in the basement of the building. It has a capacity of 500 people. History Over the years The Underworld has become the heart of the alternative music scene in England.
