Mosjøen Airport ( no, Mosjøen lufthavn, ) is a regional airport serving the town of Mosjøen in Vefsn Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. In 2014, Mosjøen Airport had 61,480 passengers. It is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor. Service The airport is served by Widerøe with Dash 8 aircraft connecting the community to the nearby towns of Bodø and Trondheim. The routes are operated on public service obligation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The runway is too short for flights with enough fuel to reach Oslo. History The airport was opened in 1987 as part of the last group of regional airports to be built in Norway. Sandnessjøen is a town and the administrative centre of Alstahaug Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. Sandnessjøen was granted special trading privileges in the late 1600s and it received town status in 1999. Bodø Airport ( no, Bodø lufthavn; ) is a civil airport in the town of Bodø in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. Located just south of the city centre, on the westernmost tip of the Bodø peninsula, it shares facilities with the military air force base Bodø Main Air Station. The airport has a single concrete, runway which runs in a roughly east–west direction. The Toven Tunnel () is a road tunnel connecting Leirfjord and Vefsn municipalities, both in Nordland county in northern Norway. The tunnel is also the main access to the city of Sandnessjøen. The Korgfjell Tunnel () is an long road tunnel in Nordland county, Norway. The tunnel connects Knutli in Vefsn Municipality with the village of Korgen in Hemnes Municipality. Work on the tunnel started in September 2001 and it was opened on 16 September 2005. The tunnel replaced a narrow, steep, twisting mountain road and shortened the European route E6 highway by . The travel time was shortened by 10–20 minutes. Before the tunnel, trucks with trailers were often stuck going uphill or downhill in snowy conditions, blocking the road. The place was considered one of the worst places on the E6 highway. The mountain road which reaches in altitude was built by the Germans during World War II, replacing a ferry connection at Elsfjord.
