Moscow Penny Ante
''Moscow Penny Ante'' is the third studio album by American punk rock band Dead to Me, released through Fat Wreck Chords on October 25, 2011. Pre-release In an interview before the album's release, band member, Tyson Annicharico, stated his pride in the album. He suggested that this pride came from the band's musical variety. He believes that the band cannot be "pigeon-holed" into one genre but was able to experiment musically. A review on R5 Productions supported this view, commenting, "as usual, it’s nothing less than the exact opposite of what you’d expect from Dead To Me." On the name of the album, Annicharico suggests that the title has a double meaning. 'Penny Ante' was the term Malcolm X used to describe small-time criminals - those not big enough to be taken seriously by criminal gangs. Dead To Me (band)
Dead to Me is an American punk rock band from San Francisco, California, United States, founded by vocalist/guitarist Jack Dalrymple, drummer Brandon Pollack (both from the band One Man Army) and bassist/vocalist Chicken of Western Addiction. Early on, Pollack was replaced by Chicken's cousin Ian Anderson on drums and Nathan Grice joined as a second guitarist. Shortly after the band's second release "Little Brother", Dalrymple left the band to focus on raising his newborn child and to make a full-time commitment as a member of the Swingin' Utters. Guitarist Nathan Grice took over Jack's vocal duties in his absence. After touring and recording as a three-piece for about two years, guitarist Nathan Grice left the band. Malcolm X
Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little, later Malik el-Shabazz; May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965) was an American Muslim minister and human rights activist who was a prominent figure during the civil rights movement. A spokesman for the Nation of Islam until 1964, he was a vocal advocate for Black empowerment and the promotion of Islam within the Black community.
