Morty Buckles is an American racing driver. An African American, Buckles was a member of NASCAR's first Drive for Diversity class after cutting his teeth at the regional racing level. In 2006, Buckles planned to race in the ARCA Racing Series and Sprint Cup Series with a team owned by former National Football League, NFL wide receiver Terance Mathis, but the deal ultimately fell through. Buckles has a degree in mechanical engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University, and has served as an instructor at the Richard Petty Driving Experience. History Early career Buckles began racing Kart racing, go-karts at age six. Driving in the World Karting Association, he won 22 races in his first year and 161 out of 252 total starts. Oni Press is an American independent comic book and graphic novel publisher based in Portland, Oregon. In 2019, it became an imprint label following the company's merger with Lion Forge Comics. The merged company, Oni–Lion Forge Publishing Group (OLFPG), is owned by Polarity. Oni Press has remained the "predominant name used for publishing comics" by OLFPG. Louise De Mortie (1833 – October 10, 1867) was an African-American lecturer and fundraiser. She devoted herself to aiding black children orphaned during the American Civil War. She was born free in Norfolk, Virginia and moved to Boston in 1853. De Mortie was known as a public speaker and as a popular singer. She moved to New Orleans in 1863 to help black orphans in that city. She raised funds in support of the Colored Orphans Home there and served as its manager. She married John Oliver, an African-American carpenter and abolitionist; the couple divorced in 1862. De Mortie died of yellow fever Yellow fever is a viral disease of typically short duration.
