Mortal (band)
Mortal was a Christian industrial/dance band fronted by Jerome Fontamillas and Jyro Xhan. Both members went on to found the alternative rock group Fold Zandura, and for a time were members of both bands simultaneously. The band is known for its lyrical intelligence, incorporating advanced theology with what has been billed as "Industrial Praise and Worship." According to ''CCM Magazine'' "Mortal has had a much greater influence... on industrial music than its modest output would suggest." Background Led by the duo Jerome Fontamillas and Jyro Xhan, Mortal was one of the first Christian bands to play industrial metal. While not actually the first to do so, Mortal enjoyed significant success, and, along with other early contemporaries such as Circle of Dust and Argyle Park, played a notable role in paving the way for future Christian industrial and industrial metal bands. The group began in 1988 as Mortal Wish, and produced a six-song demo with additional members Ray Tongpo and Wil ...

Loma Linda, California
Loma Linda (Spanish for "Beautiful Hill") is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States, that was incorporated in 1970. The population was 24,791 at the 2020 census, up from 23,261 at the 2010 census. The central area of the city was originally known as Mound City, while its eastern half was originally the unincorporated community of Bryn Mawr. History The Tongva village of Wa’aachnga, or as the Spanish referred to it as the Guachama Rancheria, was located at what is now Loma Linda. The rancheria was later occupied by the Cahuilla and Serrano after it was established as a mission outpost for Mission San Gabriel in the early 1800s. In the late 1800s, Loma Linda began as a development of tourist halls called Mound City, as encouraged by railroad companies. Shops and cottages were built, but the project would later fail. During the late 1890s, a group of businessmen and physicians from Los Angeles bought the Mound City Hotel and reopened it as a convalescent ...

Lifesavers Underground
Lifesavers Underground (a.k.a. LSU, and L.S. Underground) was one of many Michael Knott projects. The band formed in 1986 and combined elements of an earlier Knott project called Idle Lovell and LSU's sunnier alter ego Lifesavers. Lifesavers Underground combined elements of punk, post punk, funk, hard rock, and other forms of music. In 1987 Lifesavers Underground released their debut album, ''Shaded Pain''. This was followed in 1989 with ''Wakin' Up the Dead''. 1991 saw the release of ''This Is the Healing'', utilising a drum machine and Knott playing most of the musical instruments. ''The Grape Prophet'' (1993) was the first of rock operas by Knott. Released in 1993, the fifth album was ''Cash in Chaos: World Tour''. At this point Knott announced that he was changing the name of LSU to 'Cash in Chaos' (hence the mixed band name for this release). 1994's ''Grace Shaker'' was followed in 1998 by ''Dogfish Jones'', another rock opera. Despite inactivity from the LSU monik ...

True Tunes News
''True Tunes News'' is a magazine which covered alternative Christian music. It was published between 1989 and Winter 1998. Background John J. Thompson founded in 1998 ''True Tunes News'' out of his Wheaton, Illinois Christian record shop, True Tunes. The store itself, founded in 1989, with Chris Langill, was relatively unique because it focused exclusively on alternative Christian music at a time when Christian bookstores wouldn't carry products based on rock, hip hop, or other hard forms of music. In 1995 Thompson founded a live music club for Christian acts called True Tunes Upstairs. In 1997 the store, magazine, and related assets were bought by the Charlottesville, VA based company Journey Communications. Journey closed the shop in early 1998 citing lagging sales due to the spread of alternative Christian music to larger retailers, and turned operations to the printed magazine and the internet. Despite competition from '' CCM'', '' HM'', and ''7ball ''7ball'' is a discontin ...

Meditation Music
Meditation music is music performed to aid in the practice of meditation. It can have a specific religious content, but also more recently has been associated with modern composers who use meditation techniques in their process of composition, or who compose such music with no particular religious group as a focus. The concept also includes music performed as an act of meditation. History Modern meditation music in the 20th century began when composers such as John Cage, Stuart Dempster, Pauline Oliveros, Terry Riley, La Monte Young and Lawrence Ball began to combine meditation techniques and concepts, and music. Specific works include Karlheinz Stockhausen's '' Inori'' (1974), ''Mantra'' (1970), ''Hymnen'' (1966–67), ''Stimmung'' (1968), and ''Aus den sieben Tagen'' (1968), and Ben Johnston, whose ''Visions and Spells'' (a realization of ''Vigil'' (1976)), requires a meditation period prior to performance.
