Morris Busby
Morris Dempson Busby (born March 15, 1938) is an American career diplomat who served as United States Ambassador to Colombia from 1991 to 1994, during which Pablo Escobar was killed. Career Before being appointed as the United States Ambassador to Colombia, Busby served as coordinator for counter-terrorism with the rank of Ambassador at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. Prior to this, he served at the Department of State as a special envoy for Central America, 1988–1989; Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, 1987–1988; and Director of the Nicaraguan Coordination Office, 1987. Busby served as deputy chief of mission at the United States Embassy in Mexico City, 1984–1987; and as an Alternate United States Representative to the Committee on Disarmament at the United States mission in Geneva, Switzerland, 1981–1984. The Embassy of the United States of America in Mexico City is the diplomatic mission of United States of America to the United Mexican States. The embassy's chancery is situated on the Paseo de la Reforma, Colonia Cuauhtémoc, Mexico City. Ken Salazar is the current United States Ambassador to Mexico. History The current chancery building began in 1960 and was completed in 1964 at a cost of US$5 million. At the time, it was the second largest United States embassy building in the world. Albert Peter Burleigh (born March 7, 1942) is an American diplomat who worked as a Foreign Service Officer and joined the American Academy of Diplomacy. Biography Burleigh was born March 7, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1963. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal from 1963 to 1965, during which time he mastered the Nepali language. In addition to that language, he speaks Bengali, Hindi, and Sinhalese. He served as United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka 1995–97, serving concurrently as Ambassador to the Maldives. In 1998–99, he was chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. The Cali Cartel ( es, Cartel de Cali) was a drug cartel based in southern Colombia, around the city of Cali and the Valle del Cauca. Its founders were the brothers Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela and Miguel Rodríguez Orejuela. The Medellín Cartel ( es, Cartel de Medellín) was a powerful and highly organized Colombian drug cartel and terrorist organization originating in the city of Medellín, Colombia that was founded and led by Pablo Escobar. It is often considered the first major "drug cartel" and was referred to as such (a ''cartel'') due to the organization's upper echelons being built on a partnership between multiple Colombian traffickers operating alongside Escobar.
