Promotion And Relegation
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. During the season, teams that are high enough in the league table that they would qualify for promotion are sometimes said to be in the ''promotion zone'', and those at the bottom are in the ''relegation zone'' or Reg zone (colloquially the ''drop zone'' or ''facing the drop''). Botola
The Botola Pro ( ar, البطولة الاحترافية, translit=al-buṭūla l-iḥtirāfiyya), is a Moroccan professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Moroccan football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Botola 2. Seasons run from August to May, with teams playing 30 matches each (playing each team in the league twice, home and away) totaling 240 matches in the season. Most games are played in the afternoons of Saturdays and Sundays, the other games during weekday evenings. It is sponsored by Inwi and thus known as the Botola Pro Inwi. From 2015 to 2019, the league was called Botola Maroc Telecom for sponsorship reasons. Botola 2
Botola Pro 2, commonly known as Botola 2 (formerly known before as the ''Groupement National de Football 2''), is the second division of the Moroccan football league, behind the Botola, the highest football league in Morocco. It features 16 teams across the country that compete for the top two positions in the competition which at the end of the season allows them promotion to the Botola. The Amateur National Championship (or ''National'') is the third division of the Moroccan Football League, behind the Botola and the Botola 2. Before 2004 the league was called Rabita Football Amateur 1. History Before 2004, this division was named ''Rabita Football Amateur 1'', then ''Groupement National de Football Amateurs 1'' until the creation of the ''National League of Amateur Football'' in 2015.
