Morgenzon
Morgenzon ( Dutch for ''morning sun'') is a ghost town situated on the banks of the Osspruit River ''(Ox Stream)'' with an agricultural school (which is all the town is known for) in Mpumalanga province, South Africa. The town is 45 km south-west of Ermelo and 35 km south-east of Bethal and is notable for the bad road infrastructure when passing through the town. Although, during the past year or two (2021/2022) the road is in better shape than those of the surrounding towns as the road is maintained regularly,thus far. Bosbok Pharmacy in Morgenzon, with its very own pharmacist, is available to relieve the need for medication, as well as small gifts, stationery, toiletries etc. VKB Landbou has a branch in Morgenzon. Konic's Tyres opened a mini branch in town, and as with almost every other small town, one will find a PEP Stores. Oranjewerkers
Vereniging van Oranjewerkers (''"Association of Orange Workers"'', sometimes shortened to simply ''Oranjewerkers'') is a South African white separatist political movement that seeks a homeland for Afrikaners. History Formed in 1980 by Wally Grant, H. F. Verwoerd junior (the son of Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd), Carel Boshoff and C. J. Joost, the group bemoaned the over-reliance of South Africa on a black workforce and sought to set up ''Oranjegroeipunte'' (Orange growth points) where the group would buy up land to settle unemployed white people on. Lekwa Local Municipality
Lekwa Local Municipality is a South African local municipality situated in the southwest of the Gert Sibande District Municipality of Mpumalanga. Standerton, an urban node, is the seat of the Lekwa Local Municipality. The municipality was inaugurated on the 5th of December 2000 after the amalgamation the Standerton, Sakhile and Morgenzon councils. Agriculture, forestry and fishing constitute about 30% of its economy. It is situated on open grassland plains of the Highveld region, which is traversed by the west-flowing Vaal River, for which it is named. Lekwa is the Sotho name for the Vaal River. Lekwa's first two decades were marked by increasing maladministration, which culminated in a collapse in governance and service delivery by 2020. Owendale, Northern Cape
Owendale is a town in Kgatelopele Local Municipality in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. It is located between Postmasburg and Daniëlskuil. An old mining town, it was owned by Pieter du Toit from 1998 to 2006, when it was auctioned. He had reportedly bought the settlement as a base for ''Gemeente van die Verbondsvolk'', a religious cult. Members of the congregation wished to live in an isolated village, but the dearth of available jobs led to the disintegration of the community. Asbestos mining operations had ceased in 1993. Balmoral, Mpumalanga
Balmoral is a town in the Emalahleni Local Municipality in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The village was established as a railway station of the '' Oosterlijn'' from Pretoria to Maputo in 1894. The village and railway station were erected at the farm ''Eenzaamheid''. For decades the village was nothing more than a railway stop with a primary school for the surrounding farms. During the Second Boer War, the British built a concentration camp near the railway station. Hendrik Frensch Verwoerd (; 8 September 1901 – 6 September 1966) was a South African politician, a scholar of applied psychology and sociology, and chief editor of ''Die Transvaler'' newspaper. He is commonly regarded as the architect of Apartheid. Standerton
Standerton is a large commercial and agricultural town lying on the banks of the Vaal River in Mpumalanga, South Africa, which specialises in cattle, dairy, maize and poultry farming. The town was established in 1876 and named after Boer leader Commandant A. H. Stander. During the First Boer War a British garrison in the town was besieged by the Boers for three months. General Jan Smuts won this seat during elections and went on to assist in setting up the League of Nations. Standerton is part of the Lekwa Local Municipality.
