Morgan Huang
Morgan Hwang (; born 18 April 1941) is a Taiwanese business executive and politician. Early career Hwang earned a degree in economics from National Chung Hsing University's Taipei campus. He then obtained a master's and doctoral degree in business management from National Chengchi University. His teaching career, some of which was spent at NCHU, spanned three decades. Hwang spent eleven years working for Sampo Corporation, seven years at China Color Printing, and two years with . He became chairman of Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation in October 2002, shortly after TTL had been renamed from the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau. Weeks after taking the position, Hwang backed government efforts to test for bootleg rice wine, announcing that TTL would provide free wine testing in partnerships with local authorities. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA; ) is the ministry of the Republic of China (Taiwan) responsible for formulating policy and laws for industry and trade, foreign direct investment, energy, minerals, measurement standards, intellectual property, state-owned enterprises. Taiwan Beer (, or ) is a large-market beer brewed by the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL). The brand, an icon of Taiwanese culture, is the best-selling beer in the country. History The company today known as TTL, had its origins in a government agency established by its Japanese colonial rulers in 1901. The Monopoly Bureau of the Taiwan Governor's Office effectively controlled the production and sales of all liquor and tobacco in Taiwan as well as monopolizing its opium, salt and camphor. In 1922, the Monopoly Bureau began brewing Takasago Beer through the Takasago Malted Beer Company producing light and dark varieties. The Taiwan Power Company (, Taipower; ) is a state-owned electric power industry providing electricity to Taiwan and off-shore islands of the Republic of China. History Taipower was established on 1 May 1946. Its origins can be traced to 1919 when Taiwan Power was founded during Japanese colonial rule. In 1994 a measure which allowed independent power producers (IPP's) to provide up to 20 percent of Taiwan's electricity should have ended the monopoly. Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL; ), is a state-owned manufacturer and distributor of cigarettes and alcohol, and also formerly (until 2002) a state-sanctioned alcohol beverage brewing and retailing monopoly, in Taiwan. Its most famous product is Taiwan Beer. Other products include wine, Japanese-style liqueurs, Chinese herb liqueurs, and various distilled spirits. Ho Mei-yueh
Ho Mei-yueh (; born 9 January 1951) is a Taiwanese politician. Education Ho studied agricultural chemistry at National Taiwan University and technology management and business administration at National Chengchi University. Political career Ho joined the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 1975 by becoming a technician at the Industrial Development Bureau, in which she was promoted as the deputy director-general of the bureau in 1994. She was named the economics minister in 2004 and served until 2006. She then led the Council for Economic Planning and Development from 2007 to 2008. Tsai Ing-wen offered Ho the opportunity to return as economics minister in 2016, but she did not accept, leading the Tsai administration to select Chih-Kung Lee instead. Sampo Corporation () is a major manufacturing company in Taiwan. It manufactures household electrical items, including televisions, air-conditioners, and washing machines.
