The Morea ( el, Μορέας or ) was the name of the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece during the Middle Ages and the early modern period. The name was used for the Byzantine province known as the Despotate of the Morea, by the Ottoman Empire for the Morea Eyalet, and later by the Republic of Venice for the short-lived Kingdom of the Morea. Etymology There is some uncertainty over the origin of the medieval name "Morea", which is first recorded only in the 10th century in the Byzantine chronicles. Traditionally, scholars thought the name to have originated from the word ''morea'' (μορέα), meaning morus or mulberry, a tree which, though known in the region from the ancient times, gained value after the 6th century, when mulberry-eating silkworms were smuggled from China to Byzantium. Morea is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. Prior to that, it was part of the New Boston-Morea CDP. Morea is in northern Schuylkill County, in the southwestern part of Mahanoy Township. It sits at above sea level in a high valley on top of Broad Mountain, which rises to an elevation over approximately to the east. Morea Road runs along the northern edge of the community, leading northeast to New Boston and to Mahanoy City. To the southwest, Morea Road leads to Frackville. Morea is a historic home located at Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built in 1835, and is a -story, three bay, vernacular brick dwelling. Dino Morea (born 9 December 1975) is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi films. Early life Dino Morea was born in Bangalore to an Italian father and an Indian mother. Enrique Jorge Morea (11 April 1924 – 15 March 2017) was an Argentine tennis player. Morea reached the singles semifinals of the French Championships in 1953, beating Mervyn Rose and Gardnar Mulloy and then losing to Ken Rosewall. At the French in 1954, he beat Jozsef Asboth and Mulloy, then lost to Art Larsen in the semifinals. Morea won the mixed-doubles title of the 1950 French Championships. He also won two gold medals at the inaugural men's tennis competition at the 1951 Pan American Games.
