''More4 News'' was a daily news programme on the More4 digital television channel in the United Kingdom, airing Monday to Friday from 8.00pm to 8.30pm from 2005 to 2009. History More4 News launched at the inception of the More4 channel on 10 October 2005. As a consequence of the advertising slowdown during the 2009 recession, the programme was cancelled, the last broadcast airing on 18 December 2009. It was the sister programme of the ''Channel 4 News'' and was nominated by the Royal Television Society as the News Programme of the Year, 2007. More4 is a British free-to-air television channel, owned by Channel Four Television Corporation. The channel launched on 10 October 2005. Its programming mainly focuses on lifestyle and documentaries, as well as foreign dramas. Content When the channel first launched in 2005, it mostly focused on US dramas and repeats of Channel 4 programmes. Having shown all five weekday editions of ''The Daily Show'' since More4's launch, in January 2011 the channel scaled back its commitment to one episode per week in order to increase investment in its arts programming. On 23 January 2012, More4 re-focused towards more lifestyle-based content. Documentaries which previously aired on the channel moved to Channel 4. More4's schedule runs every day from 08:55 to 04:00. The Royal Television Society (RTS) is a British-based educational charity for the discussion, and analysis of television in all its forms, past, present, and future. It is the oldest television society in the world. It currently has fourteen regional and national centres in the UK, as well as a branch in the Republic of Ireland. History The group was formed as the Television Society on 7 September 1927, a time when television was still in its experimental stage. Regular high-definition (then defined as at least 200 lines) broadcasts did not even begin for another nine years until the BBC began its transmissions from Alexandra Palace in 1936. Alex Thomson (journalist)
Alexander James Thomson (born 22 December 1960) is a British television journalist and newscaster. Education Thomson was educated at the state comprehensive Cranbourne Secondary School, in Basingstoke, Hampshire, followed by University College, Oxford. In his gap year, he taught at Fyling Hall School. After graduating from University College, Oxford, with a First in English , Thomson gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from Cardiff University. Kylie Morris is an Australian journalist who was the Washington, D.C. correspondent for the UK's ''Channel 4 News'' until August 2019. She moved to the United Kingdom in 1998 after working with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. She began working for the BBC in 2000 as a foreign correspondent. Krishnan Guru-Murthy (born 5 April 1970) is a British journalist. He is the lead presenter of ''Channel 4 News''. He also presents '' Unreported World'', a foreign-affairs documentary series. Early life Guru-Murthy's father, an Indian consultant radiologist, worked in Blackburn and Burnley. The family lived in Liverpool, then moved to a 'gothic folly' in a village outside Burnley. Keme Nzerem is a Nigerian British journalist who works for ''Channel 4 News'' as a news anchor and reporter. He joined the programme in 2001.
