Morbidelli was an Italian motorcycle manufacturer founded by Giancarlo Morbidelli in Pesaro. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, the company was particularly successful in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. The team won the 125 cc world championship in 1975, 1976 and 1977, and won the 250 cc championship in 1977. In April 2024, the rights of Morbidelli brand name (in the motorcycle industry) was acquired by MBP, a subsidiary of the Keeway Qianjiang Group. 1982 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 1982 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 34th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship season. Season summary Italian Franco Uncini on the Roberto Gallina backed Suzuki took a well-earned championship for Roberto Gallina's Italian Suzuki team in the 500cc class. Yamaha introduced a new motorcycle with a V4 engine for Kenny Roberts but, suffered from having to develop a new bike during the season. Roberts was also now using Dunlop tires after Goodyear withdrew from motorcycle racing. Honda abandoned its NR500 four-stroke in favor of a V3 two-stroke NS500 piloted by American newcomer, Freddie Spencer, defending champion Marco Lucchinelli and veteran Takazumi Katayama. Gianni Morbidelli (born 13 January 1968) is an Italian racing driver. He participated in 70 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on 11 March 1990. He achieved one podium, and scored a total of 8.5 championship points. He most recently competed in the TCR International Series. Racing career Early career Morbidelli was born in Pesaro. His father, Giancarlo Morbidelli, was the founder of the Morbidelli motorcycle company which had some success in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Morbidelli started karting in 1980. He won the EUR-AM championship in 1986, before moving to Italian Formula Three. Qianjiang Motorcycle Group, doing business as QJMotor, is a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1985 and headquartered in Winling, Zhejiang Province. The 1976 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 28th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Road racing, Road Racing World Championship season. Season summary 1976 marked the beginning of the era of Suzuki domination with the Japanese firm taking 11 of the first 12 places in the premier class. Angel Nieto would take his fifth world title in the 50cc division, this time aboard a Bultaco. Gilberto Parlotti (17 September 1940 – 9 June 1972) was an Italian professional motorcycle racer competing in the FIM World Championship between 1969 and 1972. He competed for the Benelli, Derbi, Morbidelli and Tomos factories. Parlotti was born in Zero Branco, Treviso, Italy. The 1975 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 27th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Road racing, Road Racing World Championship season. Season summary 1975 represented a changing of the guard in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, both for riders as well as machines.
