Mor Yulius Elias Qoro
Mor Yulios Elias Qoro (Elias Mar Julius) (1881–1962) was a Syriac Orthodox Church Bishop and the Patriarchal Delegate of India, Born as Elias Malke Qoro at Mardin on August 1, 1881,educated at school of the Church of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. He joined Dairo d-Kurkmo (Mor Hananyo Monastery) in 1902, and became a monk on 16 June 1905. He was appointed secretary to Ignatius Abded Aloho II Patriarch of Antioch in 1906, and was ordained kashisho in 1908. He became abbot of Mor Hananyo Monastery in 1911, and was appointed director of its printing press. He was consecrated bishop on 23 September 1923 in the Church of the Forty Martyrs by Ignatius Elias III Patriarch of Antioch, appointed to serve in Malankara. He served as Patriarchal Delegate to Malankara in 1927. In 1932, he established Mor Ignatius Dayro Manjinikkara on the tomb of Elias III Patriarch of Antioch at Omallur, Kerala. Ignatius Abded Aloho II
Moran Mar Ignatius Abded Aloho II Sattuf also Ignatius Abdullah ll Stephan (June 7, 1833 –November 26, 1915) was the Patriarch of Antioch, and head of the Syriac Orthodox Church from 1906 until his death in 1915. Biography Abded was born on June 7, 1833 in the village of Sadad, a predominantly Syriac Orthodox village, south of Homs. He became a monk at an early age, and was later ordained priest. In 1870, he toured the Tur Abdin region and recorded the names of villages, monasteries, churches, clergy and the families living in the area. He was appointed metropolitan bishop of Diyarbekir Vilayet in 1872 by Patriarch Ignatius Peter IV, taking the name Gregorios, and in August 1874 accompanied him to Britain to persuade the British government to assist the church in India. Oriental Orthodoxy in India is a minority that comprises millions within Christianity in India. There is major overlap between this, the Christians in Kerala and the St. Thomas Christians, the latter of whom trace themselves back to Apostle Thomas. Clemis Abraham
Mor Clemis Abraham, the Great Metropolitan of the East (born as Abraham, 1918–2002) was the senior metropolitan (1957–58) of Syriac Orthodox Church. He was in charge of Knanaya Syrian Archdiocese. Education Mor Clemis Abraham did his primary education at the Vaikom Town Government Lower Primary School. His secondary education was in MS Higher Secondary School, Ranni in 1934. and later joined St. Mary's High School in Aluva. He passed his pre-degree from CMS College Kottayam and joined St. Xavier's College, Palayamkottai for Bachelor of Arts. He did his master's degree in political science from Annamalai University, studied Syriac and theology studies at the Theological Seminary in Mosul. St.Paulose Mor Athanasios , popularly known as Aluvayile Valiya Thirumeni, was the Metropolitan of the Angamaly Diocese and malankara Metropolitan of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church. The Feast of Mor Athanasius is held annually on 26 January. Career On 25 November 1898, Valiya Thirumeni was ordained as a priest (Kassisso) by Saint Geevarghese Mar Gregorios Chathuruthiyil. Forty Martyrs Of Sebaste
The Forty Martyrs of Sebaste or the Holy Forty (Ancient/Katharevousa Greek ''Ἅγιοι Τεσσεράκοντα''; Demotic: ''Άγιοι Σαράντα'') were a group of Roman soldiers in the Legio XII ''Fulminata'' (Armed with Lightning) whose martyrdom in 320 for the Christian faith is recounted in traditional martyrologies. They were killed near the city of Sebaste, in Lesser Armenia (present-day Sivas in Turkey), victims of the persecutions of Licinius, who after 316, persecuted the Christians of the East. The earliest account of their existence and martyrdom is given by Bishop Basil of Caesarea (370–379) in a homily he delivered on their feast day. The Feast of the Forty Martyrs is thus older than Basil himself, who eulogised them only fifty or sixty years after their deaths. Mor Hananyo Monastery ( tr, Deyrüzzaferân Manastırı, syr, ܕܝܪܐ ܕܡܪܝ ܚܢܢܝܐ; ''Monastery of Saint Ananias'') is an important Syriac Orthodox monastery located three kilometers south east of Mardin, Turkey, in the Syriac cultural region known as Tur Abdin.
