Moors Sports Club Ground
Moors Sports Club Ground is a first-class cricket ground in Colombo, the home ground of the Moors Sports Club. Location The ground is on Muttaiah Road and Braybrooke Place, near Beira Lake and Gangaramaya Temple, about one kilometre from the sea. History Moors Sports Club used the ground for many years before the first first-class matches were played there, in 1988-89, when Sri Lanka's domestic competition, the Lakspray Trophy, was granted first-class status. Since then it has been in constant use for first-class, List A and Twenty20 matches. While Moors play their home matches there, other teams also use the ground in Sri Lanka's domestic competitions. As of early September 2020, 207 first-class matches and 111 List A matches had been played at the ground. ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) contested by national under-19 teams. First contested in 1988, as the Youth World Cup, it was not staged again until 1998. Since then, the World Cup has been held as a biennial event, organised by the ICC. The first edition of the tournament had only eight participants, but every subsequent edition has included sixteen teams. India have won the World Cup on a record five occasions, while Australia have won three times, Pakistan twice, and Bangladesh, England, South Africa and the West Indies once each. Kandurata Cricket Team
Kandurata cricket team was a Sri Lankan first class cricket team based in Kandy, that represented Central Province of Sri Lanka. Kandurata competed in all three provincial tournaments:the first class cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial First Class Tournament, the List A cricket competition known as the Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. Kandurata is the current champion of Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament, and has won title in 2010–11, 2009–10, and the joint title in 2007–08 series. Basnahira North cricket team represents northern region of Western Province, Sri Lanka in first-class cricket tournaments. Basnahira North is based in Colombo. The team competes in two Sri Lankan domestic cricket competitions. The first-class Inter-Provincial tournament and the Twenty20 competition known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20. The team also participated in, now defunct, the Inter-Provincial Limited Overs Tournament in 2007–08. Arachchige Manjula Nishantha Munasinghe (born 10 December 1971), best known as Manjula Munasinghe, is a Sri Lankan Australian cricket coach and former cricketer who played five One Day Internationals (ODIs) between 1994 and 1996. Negombo Cricket Club
Negombo Cricket Club is a cricket team in Sri Lanka. In March 2017, they made a legal challenge against Sri Lanka Cricket after they were removed from Tier B of the 2016–17 Premier League Tournament. This prevented the 2016–17 Premier Limited Overs Tournament from taking place and it was replaced with the 2016–17 Districts One Day Tournament. They were one of the teams that took part in the 2017–18 SLC Twenty20 Tournament. They finished fourth in Group A, with two wins and three losses from their five matches. Following the conclusion of the Twenty20 tournament, they also took part in the 2017–18 Premier Limited Overs Tournament. Wanigamuni Ramesh Tarinda Mendis (born 7 July 1995) is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the Sri Lanka cricket team. He was part of Sri Lanka's squad for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his international debut for the Sri Lanka cricket team in January 2021. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Moors Sports Club
Moors Sports Club is a first-class cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. History Moors Sports Club was founded by members of Colombo Grand Mosque at New Moor Street in the Colombo neighbourhood of Pettah. Like most clubs founded during the colonial era it was founded on ethno-religious lines and catered to the minority Moorish community. The club later moved to its present location at Muttiah Road in the neighbourhood of Slave Island. Sir Razik Fareed laid the foundation stone for a Club House on 25 September 1936 and Governor Sir Edward Stubbs declared open the pavilion on 27 February 1937. The first inter-club match at the venue was between the Moors SC and Kalutara Town Club.
