Moorooduc, Victoria
Moorooduc is a rural township on the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's central business district, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Moorooduc recorded a population of 1,004 at the 2021 census. The Moorooduc Highway runs through the locality, being the main route between Melbourne and the Peninsula. Moorooduc Post Office opened on 27 August 1890 and closed in 1980. The Mornington Railway Preservation Society operates steam and diesel train services from Moorooduc railway station on weekends and public holidays. A short walk from Moorooduc railway station is the Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve. Electoral District Of Mornington
The electoral district of Mornington is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. The electorate can be described as outer metropolitan and rural, including animal farming, grape production and wineries. The district is 155 square kilometres in area. It was first created in 1859 when the Electoral district of Evelyn and Mornington was abolished and split in two. The district of Mornington initially included the entire Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island and French Island. Currently it includes Mornington, Mount Eliza, Mount Martha and Tuerong, and parts of Baxter and Moorooduc. Mornington has been held by the Liberal Party since it was re-created in 1985. Pony Club Association Of Victoria
The Pony Club Association of Victoria, commonly abbreviated as PCAV, is the recognised State Sporting Organisation and controlling body for Pony Club in Victoria where young people can ride and learn all disciplines of equestrian sports. The Association co-ordinates, develops and promotes horsemanship in Victoria and instruction for its members. The Association is a member of Pony Club Australia. Children and young adults to the age of 25 learn the skills of riding and general horsemanship and compete in local events, but can also go on to compete at state, national and international events. Moorooduc Quarry Flora And Fauna Reserve
The Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve is located in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia and occupies approximately 27 hectares of land. There are entrances to the reserve located on Allison Road, Canadian Bay Road, Two Bays Road and Station Street near the Moorooduc Railway Station. History Rock was quarried using explosives, loaded into dobbin carts and taken to a steam powered crusher. The resulting crushed stone was loaded into larger carts and transported to the Mornington railway line via a spur-line. *1887 - The Moorooduc quarry was established by David Munro. *1888 - A spur-line was built from the quarry to the site which is now Moorooduc station to transport stone and ballast for the construction of a branch line between Baxter and Mornington. *1923 - The Frankston - Hastings Shire Council purchased the site. Moorooduc Railway Station
Moorooduc railway station is located on Two Bays Road, Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. The station is home to the Mornington Railway Preservation Society. Adjacent to the station is the Mount Eliza Regional Park which incorporates the Moorooduc Quarry Flora and Fauna Reserve. Moorooduc station has one platform, which terminates services on the line. Only one track is currently used for services, with the other five are for train maintenance, storage, repairs and locomotives changing ends. Facilities Moorooduc station has a heritage signal box obtained from the now defunct Somerton Station (now Roxburgh Park). Currently, it is not used and is open for free inspection by passengers.
