Mooretown Flags
The Mooretown Flags are a Canadian Junior ice hockey team from Mooretown, Ontario. The Flags are members of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History Founded in 1971, the Flags have won one Clarence Schmalz Cup as All-Ontario Junior "C" Champions. The Flags have produced much in the way of alumni, including National Hockey League player Brian Dobbin. As well as semi-professionals like Dan and Joe Gardner, and Jeff Perry and Ontario Hockey League players like Cory Pageau. In 2006 the 1987-88 OHA Junior 'C' Championship team was inducted into the Sarnia Lambton Sports Hall of Fame. Mooretown, Ontario
Mooretown is a community in the Township of St. Clair, Ontario, Canada, located on the east bank of the St. Clair River. It was first established as Sutherland's Landing. Mooretown gained in prosperity during the 19th century as a port of call for sail born vessels requiring assistance to pass "The Rapids" where steamboats driven by cord wood stacked on Mooretown's piers could be towed up river into Lake Huron. The original Scottish settlers established a church at Sutherland's Landing (now between Mooretown and Courtright) which was then moved to Mooretown in the 1860s when the oak logs of the original structure rotted out. The 1860s structure was struck by lightning in 1918 having been built of local timber with a copper clad steeple known to mariners as a navigation point. The 1919 replacement structure is now on the Moore Museum's grounds having been preserved by artist Christine Anne Wingfield-Brandon. The Amherstburg Admirals are a Canadian junior ice hockey club based in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. They are members of the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. From 1987 until 2013, the team was located in Kingsville, Ontario, as the Kingsville Comets. History In the late 1980s the perennial powerhouse Leamington Flyers seemed poised to make a jump to the Western Ontario Junior B Hockey League. The GLJHL granted expansion to the Comets right on Leamington's doorstep. In 1992, the Flyers finally made the jump and a lot of the local skill attributed to the Flyers switched over to the Comets. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s the Comets would be competitive. As the 2000s wore on, despite a newly renovated arena from the municipality, performance on the ice and attendance greatly declined. The Lakeshore Canadiens are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Belle River, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. The Canadiens are 5 time Clarence Schmalz Cup Winners as Provincial Junior C Champions and the defending champions. The team was known as the Belle River Canadiens from 1978 until 2014. History From 1985 until 2001, the Canadiens were one of the most feared teams in all of Ontario Junior "C" hockey. Within those 17 years, the Canadiens won 11 GLJHL Championships and 4 Clarence Schmalz Cups as All-Ontario Junior "C" Champions in 8 trips to the All-Ontario Finals. Wallaceburg Lakers
The Wallaceburg Thunderhawks are a Canadian Junior ice hockey club based in Wallaceburg, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Wallaceburg Thunderhawks have made the All-Ontario Final once since 1972, in 1999 they lost the Clarence Schmalz Cup to the Glanbrook Rangers. From the 1997-98 season to the 2000-2001 season the Lakers made it to the Great Lakes Junior C Finals. Winning the League Championship in 1998-99 season. Alvinston Flyers
The Petrolia Flyers are a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Petrolia, Ontario. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. From 1988 until 2016, the team was known as the Alvinston Flyers, which played in the Great Lakes Jr C Hockey League. History The Flyers were founded in 1988 as members of the Western Junior D Hockey League. The Flyers only managed two wins during the 1988-89 season and six in the 1989-90 season. In 1992-93, the Flyers finally showed some promise in the (then) OHA Junior Development League with a record of 22-15-1-0. Unfortunately for the Flyers, the OHAJDL had swelled up to 18 teams by then and despite a good record, with so many teams, the Flyers only managed to place sixth. Port Perry Mojacks
The Port Perry Lumberjacks are a Junior ice hockey team that play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League and based in Port Perry, Ontario, Canada. History The Port Perry Lumberjacks joined the Central Lakeshore Junior C Hockey League in 1972 as the Port Perry Flamingos named after their sponsor, Flamingo Tarts. The Stoney Creek Warriors were a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Golden Horseshoe division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League as well as the Golden Horseshoe Junior B Hockey League and the Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League. The Orangeville Crushers were a Canadian Junior "A" ice hockey team from Orangeville, Ontario. They played in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, Midwestern Junior B Hockey League, and Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League. History Founded in 1975, the Stonecrushers sat out the 1978-79 season. The owners of the team opted to attempt to field a team in the Georgian Bay Intermediate A Hockey League by the name of the Orangeville Cougars. The Cougars only won twice in all of 1978-79 and the Stonecrushers were brought back for 1979-80. The team originated in the Central Ontario Junior C Hockey League, after one season in the league it became the Mid-Ontario Junior C Hockey League. Petrolia Jets
The Petrolia Jets were a junior ice hockey team based in Petrolia, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western division of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Western Ontario Hockey League, and the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League. History During the 1960s, the Petrolia Jets participated in a loosely ran Bluewater League that was sometimes classified as a junior league depending on how competitive its teams felt. From 1967, the Jets were permanently a junior hockey club. In 1968 and 1969 made it to the league final, but failed to win. Starting in the 1970, the Jets would win the regional Junior B championship and play for the OHA Sutherland Cup championship. In 1972, the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League would revert permanently to Junior C hockey, and the Jets jumped to the more broad and competitive Western Ontario Junior B Hockey League.
