Mooney Mooney Creek, New South Wales
Mooney Mooney Creek is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located north of Sydney along both sides of the river after which it is named. It is part of the local government area. Almost all of the suburb's land area is part of the Brisbane Water National Park, and the Pacific Motorway and Pacific Highway pass through the west and north of the suburb. The Central Coast is a peri-urban region in New South Wales, Australia, lying on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. The local government area of the Central Coast Council has an estimated population of 333,627 as of June 2018, growing by 1% annually. Comprising localities such as Gosford, Wyong and Terrigal, the area is the third-largest urban area in New South Wales and the ninth-largest urban area in Australia. Geographically, the Central Coast is generally considered to include the region bounded by the Hawkesbury River in the south, the Watagan Mountains in the west and the southern end of Lake Macquarie, lying on the Sydney basin. Wondabyne is a suburb located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, and is part of the local government area. The river that surrounds Wondabyne is called "Mullet Creek". Mooney Mooney Bridge
The Mooney Mooney Bridge, officially the Mooney Mooney Creek Bridge, and popularly known as The NSW Big Dipper Bridge, is a twin cantilever bridge that carries the Pacific Motorway (M1) across Mooney Mooney Creek, located near in the Brisbane Water National Park on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. The concrete box girder bridge was opened on 14 December 1986 by the Prime Minister of Australia, Bob Hawke, and is owned and maintained by Transport for NSW, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. The Pacific Motorway is the main road link between Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter Region. Pacific Highway is a national highway and major transport route along the central east coast of Australia, with the majority of it being part of Australia's Highway 1. The highway and its adjoining Pacific Motorway between Brisbane and Brunswick Heads and Pacific Motorway between Sydney and Newcastle links the state capitals of Sydney in New South Wales with Brisbane in Queensland, approximately paralleling the Tasman Sea of the South Pacific Ocean coast, via Gosford, Newcastle, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Ballina. Additionally, between Brunswick Heads and Port Macquarie (excepting for a short stretch around Coffs Harbour), the road is also signed as Pacific Motorway, but has not been legally gazetted as such. The Brisbane Water National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, in eastern Australia. The national park is situated north of Sydney, west of , and southwest of . Features The park has many pleasant and interesting walks that can vary from mild to rugged. One walk that can be easily accessed via public transport, is the walk to Pindar Cave on the escarpment above the Wondabyne railway station, which is a request-stop on the Central Coast railway line. The Great North Walk, that leads from Sydney to Newcastle, passes through the park. Mooney Mooney Creek
The Mooney Mooney Creek, a perennial river that is part of the Hawkesbury-Nepean catchment, is located in the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. Course and features The Mooney Mooney Creek rises southeast of Central Mangrove below Peats Ridge, and flows generally south before reaching its confluence with the Hawkesbury River at the locality of Mooney Mooney. The river descends over its course. Although called a creek, the watercourse is designated as a river, and is impounded by the Mooney Mooney Upper Dam, below Mount White. The Pacific Motorway, via the Mooney Mooney Bridge, and the Central Coast Highway crosses the river, both east of the Calga interchange. Cheero Point, New South Wales
Cheero Point is a residential suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located on the west bank of the Mooney Mooney Creek north of Sydney. It is part of the local government area. History The area was created by a land subdivision in 1918. In 1977, the Geographical Names Board included the small locality within the suburb of Mooney Mooney. However, community pressure from residents and the Mooney-Cheero Progress Association Inc. led to Gosford City Council recommending the separate gazettal of Cheero Point in its meeting on 5 November 2002, and the suburb name was officially reassigned on 21 March 2003. The suburb made headlines when landslides near Jolls Bridge forced the closure of a 250-metre section of the Pacific Highway for several years. By March 1990, only one lane remained open, and in April 1991 the highway was closed to traffic following investigations by the Roads and Traffic Authority. Electoral District Of Gosford
Gosford is an electoral district of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in Australia. The electorate covers the western parts of the City of Gosford, including central Gosford and Woy Woy. It is represented by Liesl Tesch of the Labor Party, elected at the 2017 by-election. The electorate was created in 1950. At the redistribution prior to the 2007 election much of the district of Gosford, then held by Chris Hartcher for the Liberal Party, became part of the district of Terrigal while Gosford absorbed most of the former district of Peats, then held by Marie Andrews for the Labor Party. Antony Green describes the redistribution as effectively being that Gosford was renamed Terrigal while Peats was renamed Gosford.
