Mood Indigo (festival)
Mood Indigo, affectionately known as MoodI or MI, is the cultural and signature festival of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. It is usually held towards the end of December every year. Started in 1971 by a group of students, it has attracted considerable media attention and numerous sponsors over time. Mood Indigo is also held in over 2000+ colleges and universities before ending in IIT Bombay. History A group of the first Mood Indigo organizers - gave the festival its name from Duke Ellington's Jazz piece 'Mood Indigo'. Mood Indigo had a legacy of organisers that include Nandan Nilekani, Anand Sivakumaran among others. Mood Indigo was started back in 1971, with a budget of 5,000, contributed partly by the IIT Bombay Gymkhana and partly by advertisements. Ensiferum
Ensiferum (Latin: , n adj., meaning "sword bearing") is a Finnish folk metal band from Helsinki. The members of the band label themselves as "melodic folk metal." History Formation, demos and ''Ensiferum'' (1995−2002) ''Ensiferum'' was founded in 1995 by Markus Toivonen (guitar), Sauli Savolainen (bass) and Kimmo Miettinen (drums). In the next year, Jari Mäenpää was taken into the band as singer and second guitar-player. In 1997, the first demo was released, containing three songs. Glass Harp
A glass harp (also called musical glasses, singing glasses, angelic organ, verrillon or ghost fiddle) is a musical instrument made of upright wine glasses. It is played by running moistened or chalked fingers around the rim of the glasses. Fire On Dawson
Fire on Dawson is a German rock band from Karlsruhe, Germany, formed in 2006. The current line-up consists of Indian vocalist Ankur Batra, bassist Martin Sonntag, guitarist Markus Stricker and drummer Max Siegmund. Since its formation, Fire on Dawson has released two full-length studio album ('Prognative' & '7 Billion and a Nameless Somebody') and one EP ' Seven Symptoms'. Though initially starting out as an experimental funk metal project, the band has over time developed a unique alternative/progressive rock sound, aided by the various musical and cultural influences the different band members have brought along with them. Amit Trivedi (born 8 April 1979) is an Indian music director, singer and a lyricist who works primarily in Hindi films. After working as a theatre and jingle composer and composing for non-film albums, he debuted as a film composer in the 2008 Hindi film '' Aamir'', he gained prominence for his work in the Hindi film '' Dev.D'' (2009). Early life Trivedi was born in Bandra, Mumbai, India to a traditional Gujarati family. Growing up, his only connect with music was devotional songs and Gujarati folk. Indus Creed is an Indian rock band based in Mumbai. The group was founded in 1984 as Rock Machine and renamed in 1993. They disbanded in 1997, only to regroup in 2010 with a new lineup. In its 2014 listing of "25 Greatest Indian Rock Songs of the last 25 Years", ''Rolling Stone India'' featured the band's songs "Top of the Rock" (1988) and "Pretty Child" (1990). Katatonia
Katatonia are a Swedish heavy metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström. The band started as a studio-only project for the duo, as an outlet for the band's love of death metal. Increasing popularity led them to add more band members for live performances, though outside of the band's founders, the lineup was a constantly changing, revolving door of musicians throughout the 1990s, notably including Mikael Åkerfeldt of the band Opeth for a period. After two death/doom albums, ''Dance of December Souls'' (1993) and ''Brave Murder Day'' (1996), problems with Renkse's vocal cords coupled with new musical influences led the band away from the screamed vocals of death metal to a more traditional, melodic form of heavy metal music. Sumo Wrestling
is a form of competitive full-contact wrestling where a ''rikishi'' (wrestler) attempts to force his opponent out of a circular ring (''dohyō'') or into touching the ground with any body part other than the soles of his feet (usually by throwing, shoving or pushing him down). Sumo originated in Japan, the only country where it is practiced professionally and where it is considered the national sport. It is considered a ''gendai budō'', which refers to modern Japanese martial arts, but the sport has a history spanning many centuries. Meja Anna Pernilla Kullersten (formerly Beckman; born Anna Pernilla Torndahl, 12 February 1969) is a Swedish composer, artist and singer. Among her best known songs are "Private Emotion", a duet with Ricky Martin from his multi-Platinum album ''Ricky Martin'' (1999), and "All 'Bout the Money", which was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1998. Moriarty is a French-American musical group formed in 1995. It is a musical collective of five artists of French, American, Swiss and Vietnamese origin, who were mostly born in France to American parents. Prabodh Chandra Dey (May 1, 1919 − October 24, 2013), known by his stage name Manna Dey, was an internationally acclaimed and celebrated Indian playback singer, music director, and a musician.
