Monza–Molteno Railway
The Monza–Molteno railway is a railway line in Lombardy, Italy. The line was opened as a private railway on 14 October 1911. The only train service is the S7 Milano-Monza-Molteno-Lecco line of Milan suburban railway service. Monza Railway Station
Monza railway station ( it, Stazione di Monza) is the central station, main station serving the city and ''comune'' of Monza, in the Regions of Italy, region of Lombardy, northern Italy. Opened in 1840 under the Habsburg monarchy, the station forms part of the Milan–Chiasso railway, and is a junction (rail), junction station for two secondary lines, the Lecco–Milan railway and the Monza–Molteno–Lecco railway. It is also the main railway junction of the Brianza geographical area, which encompasses the province of Monza and Brianza, Province of Lecco, Province of Como and part of the Province of Milan. Line S7 (Milan Suburban Railway Service)
The line S7 ( it, Linea S7) is a commuter rail route forming part of the Milan suburban railway service ( it, Servizio ferroviario suburbano di Milano), which converges on the city of Milan, Italy. The route runs over the infrastructure of the Milan–Monza and the Monza–Molteno railways, and the section from Molteno to Lecco, opened on 20 November 1888, of the Como–Lecco railway. In the section from Molteno to Lecco it is also present another regional service train connecting Como and Lecco. Like all the other Milan suburban railway service routes, it is operated by Trenord. Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) is the Italian railway infrastructure manager, subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), a state-owned holding company. RFI is the owner of Italy's railway network, it provides signalling, maintenance and other services for the railway network. It also operates train ferries between the Italian Peninsula and Sicily. RFI's origins can be traced back to a series of railway sector reforms enacted by the Italian government during the late 1980s and 1990s. The agency was founded on 1 July 2001 in accordance with a European directive on rail transport that mandated the separation of the infrastructure operator and the service operators. Trenord
Trenord is a railway company which is responsible for the operation of regional passenger trains in Lombardy. The company was established by the two main railway companies in Lombardy, Trenitalia and Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM), to manage train operations in the region. The equity is equally divided between the two companies. History ''Trenitalia LeNord'' (TLN) was founded in Milan on 4 August 2009 from the merging of LeNord, company owned by FNM, and the Lombardy regional division of Trenitalia. The first step of the new company was the opening of a new maintenance and cleaning center for trains in Lombardy, the biggest in Italy. Trenitalia and LeNord rented their Lombardy regional trains divisions to the company on 30 October 2009 for 11 months. After this trial period the rent was extended to the end of 2010. Milan Suburban Railway Service
The Milan S Lines constitute the commuter rail system serving the metropolitan area of Milan, Italy. The system comprises 11 lines serving 124 stations, for a total length of 403 km. There are 415 trains per day with a daily ridership of about 230,000. The core of the system is the Passante, an underground railway running through the city approximately from the north-west to the south-east. Several lines share this track, making the service in the city centre comparable to a metro line. The service timetable is based on a clock-face scheduling. Although operated by different companies, the Milan Metro and the suburban rail service have integrated tickets. Network Lines in darker background run through the Milan Passante railway. Lines which share same tracks for the majority of the route are generally identified by similar colors.
