Monty Panesar
Mudhsuden Singh "Monty" Panesar (born 25 April 1982) is a former English international cricketer. A left-arm spinner, Panesar made his Test cricket debut in 2006 against India in Nagpur and One Day International debut for England in 2007. In English county cricket, he last played for Northamptonshire in 2016, and has previously played for Northamptonshire until 2009, Sussex from 2010 to 2013 and Essex from 2013 to 2015. He has also played for the Lions in South Africa. Born in Luton to Indian parents, Panesar is a Sikh, and so he wears a black ''patka'' (a smaller version of the full Sikh turban) while playing and training. Many of his fans have emulated him by wearing patkas and fake beards while watching him play. Luton
Luton () is a town and unitary authority with borough status, in Bedfordshire, England. At the 2011 census, the Luton built-up area subdivision had a population of 211,228 and its built-up area, including the adjacent towns of Dunstable and Houghton Regis, had a population of 258,018. The English cricket team toured New Zealand from 4 February to 26 March 2013, their first tour of New Zealand since 2008. The tour consisted of three Twenty20 International matches, three One Day Internationals and three Test matches; the Test series saw the teams contest the Astle–Atherton Trophy for the first time. No man of the match awards were given in the T20I or ODI series, with prize money being given to charity instead. On the fifth day of the 3rd Test, Stuart Broad set a new record for the longest time spent at the crease without scoring a run, with 103 minutes out in the middle. English Cricket Team In India In 2012–13
The England cricket team toured India from 30 October 2012 to 27 January 2013. The tour consisted of four Test matches, five One Day Internationals and two Twenty20 International matches. A three-day training camp was held from 26 to 28 October at the International Cricket Council Global Cricket Academy in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, before the tour. The England team returned to the United Kingdom after the Twenty20 series and returned in the new year for the One Day International series. During the intervening period, India hosted Pakistan for two T20Is and three ODIs. At the conclusion of the tour, the English team travelled to New Zealand. England's 2–1 Test series win was their first series victory in India since the 1984–85 tour. The England and Pakistan national cricket teams toured the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 7 January to 27 February 2012. The tour included three Tests, four One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) between England and Pakistan. The matches were meant to be held in Pakistan, but ongoing security problems in the country meant that the series was moved to the UAE. England, captained by Andrew Strauss, entered the Test series as the top-ranked team in the world, while Pakistan, led by Misbah-ul-Haq, had won their last three Test series and were ranked fifth. 2010–11 Ashes Series
The 2010–11 Ashes series (known as the Vodafone Ashes Series for sponsorship reasons) was the 66th series of Test cricket matches played to contest The Ashes. The series was played in Australia as part of the England cricket team's tour of the country during the 2010–11 season. Five Tests were played from 25 November 2010 to 7 January 2011. England won the series 3–1 and retained the Ashes, having won the previous series in 2009 by two Tests to one. It was the first time in 24 years that England had won the Ashes in Australia. Graeme Swann
Graeme Peter Swann (born 24 March 1979) is an English former cricketer who played all three formats of the game. Born in Northampton, he attended Sponne School in Towcester, Northamptonshire. He was primarily a right-arm off-spinner, and also a capable late-order batsman with four first-class centuries, and often fielded at second slip. Swann could score quickly; his test strike rate is the highest of any male English batter to have scored at least 1000 runs. After initially playing for his home county Northamptonshire, for whom he made his debut in 1997, he moved to Nottinghamshire in 2005. Swann played a single One Day International against South Africa in 2000, before losing his place in the squad. Turban
A turban (from Persian دولبند, ''dulband''; via Middle French ''turbant'') is a type of headwear based on cloth winding. Featuring many variations, it is worn as customary headwear by people of various cultures.
