Monty (TV Series)
''Monty'' is an American sitcom that aired on Fox from January 11 to February 15, 1994. The series starred Henry Winkler as Monty Richardson, a loud, obnoxious conservative TV commentator. Richardson had also written a best-selling book titled'' I'm Right. I'm Right. I'm Right. Shut Up''. The series also starred Tom McGowan as his executive producer and David Schwimmer as his left-leaning son. ''Monty'' hoped to capitalize on the same family dynamic that made the television show ''All in the Family'' a success in the 1970s. However, the show was canceled after six episodes. Reception The series was carried on NBC's development slate in 1993 before Fox began airing the show in 1994. Situation Comedy
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Critics disagree over the utility of the term "sitcom" in classifying shows that have come into existence since the turn of the century. Tom McGowan
Thomas McGowan (born July 26, 1959) is an American actor. He first became known for his stage career both on and off Broadway. In 1991, he was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Play for his Broadway debut performance in '' La Bête''. In 2011, McGowan was chosen to step into the role of the Wizard in ''Wicked'' on Broadway. In 2014, McGowan starred in Harvey Fierstein's original Broadway play, '' Casa Valentina'' which was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play. Since then he has appeared in the Broadway revivals of ''She Loves Me'' (2016) and ''Kiss Me Kate'' (2019). David Krumholtz (born May 15, 1978) is an American actor and comedian. He played Mr. Universe in '' Serenity'', Charlie Eppes in the CBS drama series ''Numb3rs'', and starred in the ''Harold & Kumar'' and ''The Santa Clause'' film franchises. China Wing Kantner is an American actress in television, theatre and film. She is also a former MTV VJ, sometimes credited on-screen as China Slick Kantner. Biography Kantner was born in San Francisco, California, the daughter of two Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship bandmembers, singer Grace Slick (born Grace Wing) and guitarist Paul Kantner. Katherine Burton is a British/Swiss actress, the daughter of Welsh actors Richard Burton and Sybil Christopher.
