Montreal Castors was a Canadian Association football, soccer team, founded in 1975. The team played in the Canadian National Soccer League, National Soccer League, winning the championship in 1978 and 1979 before withdrawing from the league in 1979. The Castors played their home games at the Centre Sportif Claude-Robillard, Claude-Robillard Stadium in Montreal, which was built for the 1976 Summer Olympics. Canada Men's National Soccer Team
The Canada men's national soccer team (french: Équipe du Canada de soccer masculin) represents Canada in international soccer competitions since 1924. They are overseen by the Canadian Soccer Association, the governing body for soccer in Canada. They have been a member of FIFA since 1948 and a member of CONCACAF since 1961. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (RSSSF) is an international organization dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. History This enterprise, according to its founders, was created in January 1994 by three regulars of the Rec.Sport.Soccer (RSS) Usenet newsgroup: Lars Aarhus, Kent Hedlundh, and Karel Stokkermans. Gordon Wallace (soccer)
Gordon Wallace (born 6 January 1955) is a retired Scottish-Canadian soccer player who played professional in the North American Soccer League and earned nine caps with the Canadian men's national soccer team. National team A forward, Wallace started in three games for Canada in the fall of 1973 in a friendlies away against Luxembourg and twice against Haiti. He played three more times in 1974 in friendlies played away against Bermuda, East Germany, and as a substitute against Poland. He did not play again until 1980 when he started in New Zealand, and came on as a substitute against Honduras and Guatemala. In his nine appearances he did not score any goals. Tino Lettieri
Martino "Tino" Lettieri (born 27 September 1957) is a former NASL and MISL professional soccer goalkeeper, who represented Canada twice at the Summer Olympics: 1976 and 1984 and at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Club career He was born as an Italian but was raised in Canada. Lettieri began his pro career with the Montreal Castors in the National Soccer League in 1976. In 1977, he played with the Minnesota Kicks in the North American Soccer League and played there until 1981. He went on to play the Vancouver Whitecaps in 1982 and 1983 and the Minnesota Strikers in 1984. He was named NASL North American Player of the Year in 1983 and had the league's best Goals Against Average in both 1982 and 1983. Lettieri was a regular in the original MISL. Igor Bachner (born 16 September 1946) is a retired Czech-Canadian soccer player. Career Bachner began his career with TJ Škoda Plzeň, and would appear in the 1971–72 European Cup Winners' Cup as Škoda lost to FC Bayern Munich. He played in the NASL between 1973 and 1979 for the Montreal Olympique, Boston Minutemen, San Diego Sockers and Rochester Lancers. In 1975, he played in the National Soccer League with Montreal Castors.for three seasons. In late 1977, Bachner along with six Montreal players were traded to the Ottawa Tigers in order to assist in their playoff match against Toronto Croatia to gain promotion to the NSL First Division. Canadian National Soccer League
The National Soccer League was a soccer league in Canada that existed from 1926 to 1997. Teams were primarily based in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The league was renamed to Canadian National Soccer League in 1993 following the folding of the Canadian Soccer League, and the accepting of the Winnipeg Fury, making the league more national. In the 1960s, the Canadian National Soccer League was one of four major leagues in Canadian soccer alongside the Pacific Coast League, the Eastern Canada Professional Soccer League and the Western Canada Soccer League. Franco Gallina
Franco Gallina (1 January 1945 – 5 July 2021) was an Italian footballer who played as a forward, most notably in the Serie A and the North American Soccer League. Career Gallina played in the Serie D in 1962 with Casertana F.C. where he assisted in securing promotion after winning the Serie D title. The following season he was signed by Genoa C.F.C. of the Serie A, but failed to make an appearance. In 1964, he played in the Serie C with Virtus Entella, and later with Cesena F.C. He returned to his former club Genoa where he played in the Serie B. After two seasons with Genoa he played in the Serie A with Lanerossi Vicenza, and made his debut on 17 November 1968 against A.C.
