Mercato San Severino shares borders with the municipalities of Baronissi, Bracigliano, Castel San Giorgio, Cava de' Tirreni, Fisciano, Montoro, Roccapiemonte and Siano. Monticelli (Teramo)
Monticelli is a small village, a ''frazione'' of the ''comune'' of Teramo in the Abruzzo region of Italy. It has previously been called ''Monticulo'' and ''Monticello''. History The origins of Monticelli date back to at least the 10th century. In 1062 Carbone di Solfio gave his holdings in the castle at Monticello, a small local church, and land in an area called Tricagli, to Pietro, bishop of Teramo. A castle in the Monticelli area is also mentioned in 13th century documents. Between the 12th and the 16th centuries a convent was present as well as churches dedicated to Saint Paul and Saint George. These are no longer in existence and their exact location is unknown. On 30 April 1351, Queen Joanna I of Naples and her husband Louis of Taranto had Monticello, along with the neighboring communities of Ponzano, Varano and Tofo Sant'Eleuterio, incorporated into territory (at that time referred to as a Università) of Teramo. Ostuni
Ostuni ( nap, label= Barese, Ostune; scn, label=Salentino, Stune) is a city and ''comune'', located about 8 km from the coast, in the province of Brindisi, region of Apulia, Italy. The town has a population of about 32,000 during the winter, but can swell to 100,000 inhabitants during summer, being among the main towns attracting tourists in Apulia. It also has a British and German immigrant community and an industrial zone. The region is a producer of high quality olive oil and wine. History The region around Ostuni has been inhabited since the Stone Age. The town is reputed to have been originally established by the Messapii, a pre-classic tribe, and was nearly completely destroyed by Hannibal during the Punic Wars. Later it was re-built by the Romans. Little is also known about the etymology of the name Ostuni. According to one theory, the name could derive from Messapic.
