Montgomery Village Shopping Center
Montgomery Village is an open-air shopping mall in Santa Rosa, California. It comprises more than 75 retail and commercial outlets including a supermarket, 12 restaurants, five banks, and a satellite U.S. Post Office. Its anchor department store is Ross Dress for Less. History Santa Rosa developer and two-time city councilman Hugh Codding purchased a pair of orchards south of Montgomery Drive with the intention of building a shopping complex. He created Montgomery Village Development Co. and began construction on the center in 1949; it opened the following year, featuring about a dozen businesses. The shopping center was part of the unincorporated Montgomery Village neighborhood that Codding proposed as its own city; the area was incorporated into Santa Rosa in 1955. State Route 12 (SR 12) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that travels in an east–west direction from State Route 116 in Sebastopol in Sonoma County to State Route 49 just north of San Andreas in Calaveras County.
