Virgin Of Montserrat
Our Lady of Montserrat or the Virgin of Montserrat ( ca, Mare de Déu de Montserrat) is a Marian title associated with a statue of the Madonna and Child venerated at the Santa Maria de Montserrat monastery on the Montserrat Mountain in Catalonia, Spain. She is the Patron Saint of Catalonia, an honour she shares with Saint George (''Sant Jordi'' in Catalan). Miracles have been attributed to the statue. Pope Leo XIII granted the image a Canonical coronation on 11 September 1881. The image is one of the Black Madonnas of Europe, hence its familiar Catalan name, '' La Moreneta'' ("the little dark-skinned one" or "the little dark one"). Bonastre
Bonastre is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Baix Penedès in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the west of the ''comarca'' in the Quadrell range. Bonastre became part of the Baix Penedès in the comarcal revision of 1990: previously it formed part of the Tarragonès. In 1178, Bernat de Papiol, who was lord of the place, donated it to the Monastery of St Cugat. In 1382, King Pedro IV took possession of Bonastre for the crown although the monastery continued to govern the village until the 17th Century. During the Trienio Liberal Bonastre supported the royalists. In 1822, the town was attacked by a party of militia and was left deserted as its inhabitants fled to the surrounding mountains. However, the militia were attacked by royalist troops when they left Bonastre and routed. The 19th-century parish church is dedicated to St Magdalene. Vilardida
Vilardida is a village in the Alt Camp, Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. Its latitude is 41.2833/41º16'60 N and its longitude is 1.36667/01º22'0 E. The population in 2003 is indicated by Municat as three and also as 27 people. This confusion is probably because the village falls under the jurisdiction of two municipalities: Vila-rodona and Montferri. The probable population today is about 10 people and the village covers an area of about 10,000m2. The elevation is 285 m above sea level. It is situated at the "T" junction to Montferri on the main road C51 between El Vendrell and Valls and at 2.5 km from exit 11 of the motorway AP2 from Barcelona to Lleida. The name (which translated means "burnt village") was first cited in 1009 as ''Villa Ardidam'' because of the fires lit by the Bishops from Barcelona at that time. José María Jujol Gibert (16 September 1879 – 1 May 1949) was a Spanish architect. Jujol's wide field of activity ranged from furniture designs and painting, to architecture. He worked with Antoni Gaudí on many of his most famous works. Among Jujol's projects are Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, Park Güell, and Our Lady of Montserrat, and among his design styles are Modernisme and Art Nouveau. Biography Early life Josep Maria Jujol was born in Tarragona where he lived until age 9. He was the son of Andreu Jujol, a school director, and of Teresa Gibert i Vives. He was born on the top floor of the public school, Sant Joan, where his father worked. He began to draw at an early age, and always had an admiration for nature. According to his biography, he would roam the hills of Tarragona and its Roman ruins.
