Montessori School Of Duluth
Montessori School of Duluth (MSD) is a non-profit preschool and elementary school located in Duluth, Minnesota. It was founded in 1981 by Anne and Al Nephew and is the first private, independent, and non-denominational Montessori school in Duluth's history. It is located in the Hunter's Park residential neighborhood of Duluth, four blocks from Morley Heights Park. MSD enrolls children from 16 months to 6th Grade. As a Montessori school, MSD emphasizes child-directed work, uninterrupted work periods, Montessori materials, and multi-age classrooms. History Early years MSD was founded in 1981 with fifteen students graduating from a Montessori Children's House, and was initially housed in an elementary classroom located on Minnesota Point, also known as Park Point. Minnesota Point
Minnesota Point, also known as the Park Point neighborhood of Duluth, Minnesota, United States; is a long, narrow sand spit that extends out from the Canal Park tourist recreation-oriented district of the city of Duluth. The Point separates Lake Superior from Superior Bay and the Duluth Harbor Basin. Lake Avenue South / Minnesota Avenue serves as a main route in the community. Near the end of Minnesota Point is a small airport, Sky Harbor Airport. Beyond the airport, approximately 3/4 mile, is an old growth red and white pine forest. Anna Ringsred
Anna Ringsred (born September 27, 1984) is an American speed skating, speed skater who represented the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics. She began speed skating at age 13 and made the United States junior team while in high school. In 2004, she qualified for the Junior World Allround Championships, placing 22nd. She qualified for World Championship events in 2007, 2008, and 2010, with her best finish being a fifth place in the 2007 team pursuit. Ringsred had four third-place finishes at the 2010 National Championships, but was not selected to the 2010 Olympic team. She retired from speed skating at the end of the season, but launched a comeback effort in 2012. She made the 2013 Allround and Single Distance World Championship teams.
