Montenegrin Basketball Clubs In European Competitions
Clubs from Montenegro are playing in European basketball competitions since the 1980s. Until 2006, they represented SFR Yugoslavia and FR Yugoslavia. Almost all European seasons by Montenegrin clubs are played by KK Budućnost. Exceptions are two single seasons in European competitions played by KK Lovćen Cetinje and KK Mornar Bar. Most successful period was end of the 1990s and beginning of the 21st century. At that time, KK Budućnost played in the finish phases of EuroLeague. In that period, Budućnost often played games against greatest European basketball teams like FC Barcelona Bàsquet, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid Baloncesto, Real Madrid, PBC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow, Panathinaikos B.C., Panathinaikos, Olympiacos B.C., Olympiacos, Maccabi Tel Aviv B.C., Maccabi Tel Aviv etc. On season 2018-19, KK Budućnost made a comeback to EuroLeague. London Towers
London Towers were a professional basketball team based in London, England. They enjoyed considerable success in the 1990s and early 2000s, collecting 3 titles in the British Basketball League (BBL) as well as regularly competing in European competitions such as the Euroleague and EuroCup. They contested a fierce rivalry with fellow London team Greater London Leopards for much of this spell. After several years of decline with financial difficulties and venue issues, owner Costi Zombanakis pulled the first team from the BBL in the summer of 2006, and although the club's second team continued in the regional English Basketball League, the London Towers brand folded in 2009. Valencia Basket Club S.A.D., commonly known as Valencia Basket (), is a professional basketball team based in Valencia, Spain. ASK/Brocēni/LMT was a professional basketball team that was located in Riga, Latvia that existed from 1992 to 2001. The club played in the Latvian Basketball League, winning eight consecutive titles from 1992 till 1999. Brocēni also were regular participants in European club competitions. The 1998–99 FIBA Saporta Cup was the thirty-third edition of FIBA's 2nd-tier level European-wide professional club basketball competition. It occurred between September 15, 1998, and April 13, 1999. BC Statyba was a basketball club from Vilnius, Lithuania. It was renamed to Lietuvos rytas in 1997. History In 1963, Vilnius's first basketball club, called Žalgiris, was established. In 1964, the team changed its name to Plastikas, but was renamed to Statyba before the start of the season. In 1965, Statyba became the Žalgiris association champions, and finished third in the Lithuanian cup tournament.
