Montell Griffin
Montell Julian Griffin (born June 6, 1970) is an American former professional boxer. He held the WBC light heavyweight title in 1997, and challenged twice for a world title. Early life Montell Griffin was born June 6, 1970 in Chicago. By age 22, Griffin was living in Midway City, California and defeated Frank Vassar of Spokane, Washington in the 1992 U.S. Amateur Boxing Championships. He defeated future heavyweight contender Jeremy Williams at the box-offs, to make the 1992 Olympic team. Amateur career Griffin compiled an amateur record of 36-5. He won the 1992 United States Amateur Light Heavyweight title. At the 1992 Olympic Trials in Worcester, Massachusetts, Griffin was outpointed in the final by Jeremy Williams. Eric Harding
Eric Harding (born December 20, 1972) is an American former professional boxer who fought at light heavyweight. Career Harding turned pro in 1991 and was undefeated in his first 20 fights. These wins included a fight in which he defeated future champion Montell Griffin by split decision to win the NABF light heavyweight title on Nov 13, 1998, and a unanimous decision over then undefeated contender Antonio Tarver on June 23, 2000. His streak came to an end when he fought Roy Jones Jr. for the WBC, WBA, & IBF light heavyweight titles on Sept. 9, 2000. He lost by technical knockout (the fight was stopped after the 10th round by the ringside doctor due to Harding suffering from a torn biceps muscle), but after the fight Jones Jr. said it was his most difficult fight to date. The Aragon Ballroom is a ballroom located in Chicago, Illinois, approximately north of downtown, in the Uptown neighborhood. History The Aragon Ballroom was built by brothers Andrew and William Karzas, who turned to ballrooms after making their early fortunes in nickelodeons and movie theaters. Their first dance hall project was the 1922 Trianon Ballroom in Chicago designed by renowned theater architects Rapp & Rapp. With hopes of duplicating the success of the Trianon, the brothers opened the Aragon on July 15, 1926, once again turning to movie theater experts for building design. DeAndrey Abron
DeAndrey Abron (July 31, 1972 – March 7, 2020) was an American professional boxer who competed from 2004 to 2011 and challenged for the WBO and lineal light heavyweight titles in 2008. He served in the United States Army and won gold in the All Army/Armed Forces Championship from 1998 to 2003. Ray Lathon
Ray Lathon, (October 27, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri – December 12, 2000, in St. Louis) was an American boxer. Amateur career Known as "Lethal", Lathon was a stellar amateur and, in 1989, he was the U.S. Amateur Middleweight champion and won the Golden Gloves and USA Boxing titles. He also fought as part of Team USA at the World Championships in Moscow. Professional career Lathon turned professional in 1990, and suffered his only professional defeat to Montell Griffin in 1994.
